    Eagles fire Daisher, hire April

The Philadelphia Eagles have fired Ted Daisher and hired former Buffalo Bills assistant Bobby April to be their special teams coordinator.

April, who opted out of the final year of his contract with the Bills, agreed to a three-year deal. The Pittsburgh Steelers, along with several other teams, had expressed interest in him.

April decided to take the Eagles' offer after coach Andy Reid convinced him that he wanted to make a major commitment to a talented group of special teams players, including wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who made the Pro Bowl as a receiver and a returner.

April is considered one of the league's top special teams coaches and has won several coaching awards. This was the first major move by the Eagles this offseason.

Daisher spent last season with the Eagles after coaching with the Cleveland Browns.

The Eagles also fired strength and conditioning coach Mike Wolf and assistant strength and conditioning coach Jay Merlino.

Not that I want to doubt the manbut....how can he know that Reid used those tactics to lure April over?

And, is that a good thing anyway? We are essentially commiting to a new STs coordinator that Desean will be his returner? Desean is electric as a returner, I know, but he's been lit up and dinged up a bit already. And what other STs player would he have committed to?

Not sure I believe that whole thing.....

If #5 isn't traded, I'm hoping to see a special assistant coach hired who's sole duty it is to keep Donnie from acting like a total jackass before playoff games.

What you didn't think it was HIlarious that he jumped at a cowboys fan and played air guitar? That clearly loosened up the rest of the team so they could go out and suck without stress.

"Love the sinner, hate the sin!"

I have admired McNabb (the player and the person) since his days at the 'Cuse, but I want to vomit when he pulls that kind of forced Jr High Funny Man crap! It's just embarrassing!

Don't knock the air guitar, it's the best thing for the team since Dhani Jones did it. And not as good as his moonwalk, either.

I didn't watch many Bengals games this year. Does Dhani still do the guitar?

(one google search later) yep, looks like he does. A Sports Illustrated guy thought he deserved a Pro Bowl nod, and one of the Cincy fans wrote something like, our air-guitar-playin'-Dhani?

I've never seen his TV show on the Travel Channel, I wonder how often he wears bowties on the show?

The Eagles could have used Dhani this past year. I always thought he got a bad rap here. He didn't make a bunch of big plays, but he was consistently solid.

I'm not sure "solid" is the word. He was serviceable. I think what soured Eagles fans was the fact that he would make a tackle 12 yards down the field and then play his air guitar like he he just forced and recovered a fumble in the backfield.

Dhani Jones sucked here, as is no better than the OLB's we have on the team now.

I think the LB we have now are better than Dhani is now...Bradley, Jordan, Gaither, Gocong, Witherspoon, Fokou all have good talent and we just need to find the right combination and utilize them in the best positions...

                              From PFW:

Of all the coaches the Bills lost in their recent housecleaning, the one who might be hardest to replace is special-teams coach Bobby April. April spent six seasons in Buffalo and became known as one of the top special-teams minds in the league, consistently churning out some of the most productive kicking and returning units. It didn't take long for April to catch on elsewhere, though, as the Eagles hired him to the same position on Jan. 14.
