  • (OT) RIP Merlin Olsen

Didn't see this, but 1 of lifes all-stars passed away yesterday at age 69. 1 of the classiest guys to every put on a set of shoulderpads.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Always known as a "gentle Giant" he'll be remembered as a true gentleman. Some will only know him as a TV commentator(teamed with Dick Enberg) or as an actor on "little house on the prairie" but he was also a great NFL DT.Class guy all around.RIP.
Just give me ONE before I go!

Wow I hadn't heard about this. I don't really remember him as a player since I was so young when he played. Condolences to his family. RIP Merlin.

I remember Merlin Olsen as the FTD man and Andrew Garvey on Little House which my sister and I watched without fail growing up.

I heard he had mesothelioma (sp??) and was suing.

Quite litigious of the Hall of Famer if you ask me but I do not want to judge the dead. I understand he was a GREAT guy off the field and on it.

He will be missed and would somebody please provide me with spelling melp on mesothelioma and litigous.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

A very gifted man. Sad to see him pass away too soon.
