Never said they had to make the playoffs. Just that Kolb has to be a playoff calibur QB by year's end.

I'm fine with that. Just make a steady progression year after year and we'll be parading down Broad Street again.

Add that the Skins have a miserable OL with the geriatric trio of Willie Parker, Larry Johnson & Clinto Portis carrying the rock. (not to mention the stellar WR corps).

Someone had a quip that said "with Willie Parker, Larry Johnson, and Donovan McNabb, the Redskins are favorites to win the 2006 NFC East."

Even Aaron Rodgers didn't do that in his first full year..

That's why I asked the question. He sat on the bench for a while behind a veteran QB. Didn't play enough but showed flashes -- enough so the FO gave him the reins. This is exactly the Kolb situation.

Not enough evidence.

After all, most people didn't jump on the "mcnabb will never.." bandwagon until well after the SB. You gotta see Kolb in live action playoff fire before you can make any decent arguments either way.

That being said, I'm more sanguine as an Eagles fan than I have in years.

John Elway made Mike Shanahan more than Shanahan made Elway.

Shanahan is just the latest in a string of glamor coaches who have fizzled under Danny Boy (Schottenheimer, Spurrier, and Gibbs).

And Shanahan wasn't the person responsible for Denver's great offensive line in those days - It was Alex Gibbs, who is now Peter Carroll's assistant in Seattle, who made Denver's OL.

I agree just about 100% except I take out the name Elway and put Davis in. It wasn't until the Broncos got Terrell Davis that they took off. Elway at that point was just trying to not lose games. Davis really was the one who carried that team. Once Elway and Davis were gone Shanahan really didn't do anything special.
