  • Just a thought...could Vick be like an early Randall ?

Early in Randall's career, Buddy would put him in everytime there was a 3rd and long play (and sit Jaws).

One of the things that I like with Vick over Kolb, is that even 3rd and 15 is more makeable because of Vick's strong arm and legs. On the shorter downs, I like Kolb's quick release and accuracy (although we didn't see it in his brief 1st game).

If we get into a 3rd and long at Jacksonville, why not replace Kolb with Vick ? It could also help build Kolb's confidence, as long as Vick would be OK with it.

Andy would never consider doing this. But, what do you guys think ? Why not take advantage of both QB's strength ?

    Just a thought.

I get where you are coming from. It would reduce the potential for having Kolb trying force the ball on 3rd and long.

There is not another player like Vick on any other NFL roster (unless you count Vince Young maybe...I don't). Kolb knows that Vick has unique talents. I would rather have Vick play in those 3rd and long situations, then on 1st or 2nd down.

It's just a thought to ease Kolb back into the offense. I won't be offended if nobody agrees with me

Plus, if Buddy tried the same strategy, it must be a good idea

Well Pliny, Buddy was sure no offensive genious!

I still have a soft spot for Buddy, even more than Vermeil.

With a young QB, you have to let them stay out there and live with the mistakes. This is why it doesn't make sense to bench Kolb after one half of play. Kolb is going to have to go through a learning process, and we are going to have to endure the consequences. That's it! Makes no sense whatsoever to shuttle Vick in and out. Disrupts Kolb's rhythm and destroys his confidence.

Vick is a good backup but he has peaked. I have long advocated he would be a great weapon in certain circumstances because he presents a potent run risk while also presenting an adequate passing risk. Key third and fourth down plays but not every third and long.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
              Hope is not a strategy

Does anyone not think his best days are behind him? I'm not saying he hasn't a good QB because he is. And I'm not saying he can't win a SB in Philly because he can, just like McNabb could. I have been supportive of the signing since it was made and my only concern has been that he can be game planned for.
Andy & Co made a significant business decision in getting rid of DMac and going with Kolb. That decision, again a significant decsion that had to receive a lot of thought, isn't something you change after 1/2 of football. If that short period of time caused you to change your mind then I would say you made a hell of a mistake earlier.

That is a question one of the reporters was trying to get answered by Reid last night, but he wouldn't admit to any error.
