For those who know my posts, know I do a mock draft with my friends I know who are throughout the country and are fans of different teams. I post these when I can, they are for fun nothing more nothing less. I find the buzz though around each team to be interesting. The rules were simple for this one (done last Sunday), We are the eternal optimists (CBA Related) so for this draft we allowed trades of both picks and players. We only did 4 rounds. Here is what I did for the Eagles.
I held an auction for Kevin Kolb, seven teams came to me with offers, Carolina, Arizona, Buffalo, Oakland, Minnesota, Seattle and Maimi.
I traded him to Minnesota, they were the best deal in my mind. I got the 12 overall pick, along with an exchange of picks in round 2 and linebacker Erin Henderson. Here is what I did with those picks
#12 Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska - very interesting how this fell, 4 qb's went in the top 11, Newton (1), Gabbert (3), Mallett (5) and Locker (washington took him) Which had players falling, It pushed down defensive lineman so Amukamara fell. I don't think this will happen on April 28th but I pounced on him
#23 Traded back with Buffalo got #34 and #68 (Buffalo took QB Kaepernick). Was not happy with what was there,Carimi, Solder and Constanzo were gone, so I took a chance to add depth to the team.
#34 Benjamin Ijalana, OT/G, Villanova (from Buffalo) -I think he plays Right Tackle in the pro's solid value here at #34, won't beat out Justice year one but will by year 2. Has all the measurable to be a quality NFL lineman, Howard Mudd gets a new toy to play with Local product
#43 Stephan Wisnewksi OG/C Penn State (FromMinny) - Best player available at this pick. In my opinion he could start day one at right guard, if not he provides depth behind Jackson as center or McGlynn at right guard in year. Another toy for the Mudd Man
#68 (from Buffalo) Jabaal Sheard, DE, Pittsburgh - 6ft 3 265lb, he fits the Jim Washburn style of end, Big East player of the year, good get at this point in the draft, this draft is really deep in defensive lineman, most years a guy like Sheard is a high second round pick. With Grahams injury we must again address this position. Washburn gets a shinny new toy
#85 : K.J. Wright, OLB, Mississippi State - Prototypical strongside linebacker, with so many free agents at linebacker (Gaither, Jordan,Bradley , Simms et all) we need to add more just in terms of numbers. I believe Wright will challenge Fokou for the strong side linebacker spot at some point in 2011
#103 - (from Wershington) - Joe Lefeged SS/KR Rutgers - I saw him play in person, he is a hitter not only that but he is a heck of a kickoff returner something we need. With Quentin Mikell all but gone we need depth at safety. He backups Kurt Coleman at the strong safety spot
#119 Pat Devlin QB Delaware - Andy loves to take developmental QB's and with the trade of Kolb he needs a clipboard holder. Good size, good speed, a solid prospect.
