    Getting familiar with……………Moise Fokou

We end the NFL season with a short interview with Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Moise Fokou.

How was the season for you?
The season had its highs and its lows. I wasn’t really starting the first three or four games. After that I got my opportunity and things took off for me. I did a couple of good things out there and our running game got a lot better.

Difference between the 2009 season and 2010 season for the team?
In 2009 we had a lot of veterans and lost a lot of guys like McNabb and Westbrook. This year we weren’t a lot younger. Probably the youngest team in the NFL. You can either go two ways; either not expect a lot of a young team or a young team can work real hard and give you something. I feel that’s what we had. A young group of guys excited about everything and put all the hard work and time into it. We also have an excellent quarterback in Michael Vick who’s just a beast out there and we got better and better on defense every week.

Did you guys feel disrespected heading into the 2010 season with talk of the Cowboys and Giants?
It was expected with the new draft class we had. We didn’t really look into that too much we kinda just took it as we’re gonna go to work and show the country what we’re made of.

How did you get started playing Football?
I started off playing Soccer. A neighborhood friend of mine invited me to play Football and I did it the next year. After I hit someone real hard, I fell in love with the game. From then on I wanted to play every summer. I tried other sports but I definitely fell in love with Football. Just going out there being a physical kid and having fun. I played in High School and at the University of Maryland and luckily was good enough to get drafted.

At what point did you know you had a chance to make a career out of it?
I guess you know it’s always a dream for everybody but there’s a point that you start to excel on the collegiate level and for me in my last year I had a breakout season, sacks here and there. From there on you start getting attention from agents and start thinking this could possibly happen.

Toughest player faced so far and toughest team?
For me personally it was the Cowboys in 2009 since they beat us twice at the end of that season and I started all the games so that’d probably be the toughest of the biggest rivals for me. A lot of tough guys in the league so I don’t know.

Who are some players you admired growing up and patterned your game after?
I always liked watching Ray Lewis play. He’s just a leader on the field, exciting to watch. A lot of players. When I was younger I used to play running back so Emmitt Smith here and there but on defense definitely Ray Lewis.

Playing Running back and now playing Linebacker you kind of get the mentality of the guy you’re trying to stop right?
Yeah definitely but at the same time I played running back in high school and this is running back in the league. There’s some similarities but it’s a lot different. I kinda know where they wanna go but the worst running back to defend for me has got to be the short stocky one. The kind you lose in between the lines and then they’re out somewhere.

Do you ever go back to Cameroon?
I was back there last summer, It was my first time back. I plan on going back definitely.

Any thoughts on Cameroon and the continent as a whole?
The country felt like I had never left. It was a good and bad thing. It’d been almost 20 years since I’d been there. I wanted to see more progression but it was a great experience. We went back to the village and got to see a lot of my family members.

Did you make it back to South Africa for the World Cup?
I’m still a soccer fan but I didn’t make my way to South Africa. Cameroon did horribly. They disappointed Africa and Cameroon.

Are you working with any charities at the moment?
I am working with an epilepsy group at the moment but no personal charities.

Fokou and the Eagles ended the season 10-6 but lost in the wild card game to eventual champions Green Bay.

YPCM Can I just say thanks for consistently keeping new threads on the board. You make the offseason easier to handle with these little nuggets.

    Thanks.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

No problem, my e-friend. Finding this stuff is the only thing that keeps me entertained through the off-season as well, so I figure I'd share.

I couldn't agree more! It's nice to get all the info I need right here.

I hate everything the Cowboys stand for. If you think they are America's team, then you support everything that is wrong with America. The excess, the greed, the lack of maturity, the lack of responsibility, the lack of control. - Luzinski's Gut

FYI - I am not posting another speculative article about Kevin Kolb again. I just can't do it anymore. Hahaha. Just so you know there's rumors of the Bills offering their 1st rounder for Kolb and the Eagles 1st rounder. But everyone is saying it's a complete fabrication that started on a message board. But that hasn't stopped writers for writing about it.
