  • Every year it's the same

The Eagles under Reid always fumble away winnable games early because of sloppy play, poor coaching decisions, etc., etc. Every damn year they do it.

I get that Big Red usually needs a few weeks to figure out his team and that when he gets it, they kick it into gear. But I think that's also cost them trips to the Super Bowl, because they rarely get the playoff bye week that is so crucial to getting there.

Big Red usually proves me wrong, but I am not so sanguine that they will be able to put the pieces back together this year. Here's why:

-- Vick is not nearly as durable as McNabb was and Big Red still wants Vick to run the same damn offense, with the same damn slow-developing routes, empty backfields and high-risk, high-reward outcomes. Although I do have to recognize that the Eagles were clearly fearing for Vick's health yesterday with all of the called run plays. Some adjustment was made for the fact that Vick was trying to play a week after getting a concussion.

-- They don't have Kolb this year to step in for Vick.

-- Castillo is utterly hopeless as a defensive coordinator. He is truly awful.

Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

Vick is not a three step guy. He is going to take abuse no matter what offense he plays in because of that. Unless they play old Steeler ball.

    Couldn't agree more about Reid.

Castillo is going to be the new scapegoat. I will say the offense is failing the Eagles more this year than the D is. The D has kept the Eagles in games just to watch the O fumble it away.

BTW where is DJ? Either he is half assing it or teams have figured out how to take him out of the GP. Either way I wouldn't even think of an extension at this point.

I hate everything the Cowboys stand for. If you think they are America's team, then you support everything that is wrong with America. The excess, the greed, the lack of maturity, the lack of responsibility, the lack of control. - Luzinski's Gut

Blitz...you are right about DJ. He is a nonfactor. Dropped that ball over the middle that hit him in the hands. Elite receivers with elite size make that catch...DJ is neither.

Great player but not a break the bank type of athlete.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

It's those slow developing routes that LT was referring to. With the way they run this offense, Dj will be feast or famine.

Its the same shit every year. Over, and over again. What is the meaning of insanity? Doing the same thing over, and over again, and expecting a different result.

I know whats coming on every play. I know what they are doing when they audible, and just some asshole sitting at a bar.

This team is so easy to game plan for. They need to change it up.

Vick... get under center. Hand the ball off to very capable trio of RB's. Stop getting Vick killed. You ruined McNabb please don't do it Vick, but they will.

Did anyone notice when the Birds ran the ball 8 straight times, and easily moved the ball down the field? WHY STOP DOING THAT?? Sweet Jesus I'm so tired of the same shit every year.

With a different coach late in the games, we might be 3-0 at this point. Not to mention, he is the one that selected Castillo. When was the last time this team drove down the field in a tight spot, and I mean a methodical drive, not a bunch of scrambles and a couple of personal foul penalties. Week after week, we see Roethlisberger, Schaub, Stafford, even McCoy yesterday...tons of quarterbacks lead their teams on signature last drives. We get down late, as we did yesterday at 22-16, and it always feels like with this coaching staff, the game is over.
