Haven't been able to confirm the report but 97.5 ESPN reported the Eagles were contacted by Chicago and they asked for Briggs AND a second rounder for Asante. I wonder if the Bears have stopped laughing yet.

I heard that rumor too. Why didn't the ask for Urlacher and Forte while they were at it.

Jesus... I'd take a 7th rounder, and a pack of Lucky's right now for him.

I was confused to. I thought he was a LB. Why would I think we get something of need? Enjoy your 2 touches a month Mr. Harrison.

...moving forward, this may indicate a willingness to trade Samuel in the coming offseason. likely for more draft picks.

It's possible that the Eagles may consider 2011 to technically be Samuel's last year of his contract. His base salary jumps from $5.9M to $9.5M next year. Seriously doubt that they see him as a $10M player, and I doubt any other team does either at this point limiting him to a late round pick as trade value...at best. Just my guess.

Man, that almost makes him untradeable.

Pretty sure they see him as a $10 million player, or at least $9. His salary this year is $5.9 million yes, but there is a $2.4 million "likely to be earned" bonus this year, so his cap hit (when adding in the $1 million proration of the signing bonus) is $9.335 million. His salary next year is $8.4 million (i.e. basically the same as this year if he earns the bonus), and the cap hit (again with the proration) is $9.5 million, about the same as this year. In 2013 it does go up some; salary of $10.4 million. Teams could decide to trade for him for one year, most certainly. If he has a bad year, yeah it could be tough, but other teams would only be on the hook for the $8.4 million next year if traded (the proration becomes an Eagles cap hit) and that's definitely doable if he's still playing well.
