Eagles | Nothing happening with Bunkley
    Thu, 27 Jul 2006 05:47:56 -0700

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports the Philadelphia Eagles had a brief conversation yesterday with first-round draft pick DT Brodrick Bunkley's agent, Gary Wichard, but the sides did not move any closer to striking a deal. Bunkley missed his ninth and 10th practices Wednesday, July 26. During an interview on WIP-AM (610) Wednesday, Eagles' head coach Andy Reid said he had tried to talk to Bunkley but was denied permission by Wichard.

didn't gary wichard have keith jackson and jerome brown at the same time at one point when they were both eagles? i recall an acrimonious holdout with brown and jackson many moons ago where both came into camp just before the start of the season. but i am going on strictly recollection.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

Ya gotta hate to see this happen. It hurts the agent in future negotiations, it hurts the team because a guy they were depending on will be behind the curve by the time things get done, it hurts the player because well... see above. Ultimately, it hurts the fans as well.

I wish there were a mandatory set of numbers for all incoming draft picks... based on where you were picked and what you were paid in that first contract was based totally on where you were picked. That way none of this crap would happen.

Well my guess is that it isn't the pay that is a concern at all,, but the lentgh of the contract.

The Eagles want that 6th year and Wichard wants another pay day in 5 years.

That one year, Wichard was holding out for, is now considered a "shot in the dark".

Miss 8 days of camp and then get arrested. That is about as close to "shooting yourself in the foot" without ever firing the gun.
