  • Cobb predicts doom....

    http://gcobb.com/2012/01/23/the-harb...ill-not-close/

I think people are making a huge mistake comparing themselves to these two teams. They aren’t even in the same league. The first thing that separates them is coaching. It’s literally amazing that Tom Coughlin is always on the hot seat and Andy Reid gets a pass. Reid can’t hold a candle to him in a few important areas. He just cannot make adjustments on the fly. He refuses to admit or address his obvious weaknesses and just has a terrible record at choosing personnel.
The next area is the quarterback. Both Manning and Brady are true pocket passers. Vick does not make as good as decisions on the fly and is not even close in accuracy. He hasn’t demonstrated he can take a team on his back and win one in the clutch. The Giants defense has size, the Eagles defense has speed. The Eagles wide receivers have speed, the Giant wideouts have size. We all see what advances in January.
Again as I said the more things change the more they stay the same. As every team is making announcements everyday making changes to improve. The Eagles sit stubborn and quiet. With Marty Mornhinweg possibly headed to the Colts, Spagnola to New Orleans, seems like they have a different idea of where the gold standard is. They need to go through the motions the next 12 months as I expect they will. They will have trouble winning 8 games ( you heard it here first) Then blow this team up and get Bigger and Stronger.
And I hate to say it Vick lovers but find someone even dumber than them to take him off their hands. They will NEVER win with him or this coach. So I think it’s time everyone in Philly joins me in the real world. This will get real bad next year. I will be shocked to see Reid make it to Thanksgiving. Again you heard it here first.

It looks like there wasn't even a fucking plan-just great

WTF is going on? This little tidbit makes it even worse!

Juan Castillo won't confirm he is still Eagles offensive coordinator
In his first public comments since before the end of the season, Juan Castillo would not confirm if he was or wasn't still the Eagles' defensive coordinator according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"You got to go through Andy," Castillo said, deferring to Eagles coach Andy Reid. "I'm just working," he added, explaining his presence at Senior Bowl practices.

Castillo is still a member of the Eagles, although it remains unclear what his role will be next season. Reid has not met with the media since immediately following the season finale against the Redskins on Jan. 1. The Eagles said that he would speak as soon as he was finished evaluating his coaching staff.

His silence makes it seem as if Castillo is still dangling in the wind. The Eagles, according to a few reports, were said to be interested in bringing Steve Spagnuolo back to replace Castillo as the leader of the defense. The team, publicly or privately, have not addressed their supposed interest in the former St. Louis Rams coach.
    "Hey Giants, who's your Daddy?"

60, that is what many of us thought last year. That there was no plan, or the plan blew up and they ended up going to plan X with Castillo. Lurie seemed to validate that Juan was not the original choice. Regardless, yes the staff is under a gag order, and I am not sure what that means. Is Andy waiting to talk to a coach that is with one of the two(or possibly four) final teams from the playoffs before he moves forward? I kinda hope so. f the "plan" ws to stick with Juan, wouldn't he have come out with that already?

As for the piece that I posted, I'm not sure Cobb wrote it, but it was from his site so at a minimum he doesn't have a problem with it.

No big deal. So the head coach hasn't met with his staff in the 3-4 weeks since the end of one of the most disappointing and underachieving seasons we've had in years. No big deal.

        Is Andy even trying anymore?

C'mon. You heard Lurie talk about how passionate and motivated big Red is.

gcobb may be low on brainpower, but he is right about Vick. We'll never win a Super Bowl with Michael Vick (You heard it here second.).

If you paired Vick with Belichick, would Vick win a super bowl?

NO. (This is purely hypothetical, because Belichick would never have Vick on his team!) Vick resists good coaching.

Until Cassel had such a good year, I would have said if you pair Belichick with anyone other than Brady, I am not sure he is as successful. I think Brady is the catalist, but Belichick is a tremendous game planer and builds a team around the taletn that he has.
