from the sun sentinel:
Cutting a team leader like Yeremiah Bell is a highly questionable decision, one the Miami Dolphins could come to regret should new defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle’s unit fail to match the success of the one predecessor Mike Nolan ran. True, Bell recently turned 34 and his coverage skills had started to slip in recent years, but the co-captain and career-long Dolphin could always be counted on to get the young secondary lined up properly. Bell’s emotional fire was a huge factor in those defensive huddles, especially with the game on the line, and his work ethic and preparation were great examples for the rest of the league’s sixth-ranked scoring defense.
Bell, whose release will create $4.35 million in salary cap room, also led the team in tackles the past four seasons (averaging 110 per season) and ranks as the franchise leader in sacks by a defensive back.
Talented young Reshad Jones will probably move over from free safety to take Bell’s spot, a move we all saw coming at some point. Just not this soon.

After the Ronnie Brown experiment last season, I'm not too excited about bringing in former Dolphin players who have long histories of success but are starting to lose it. I might be willing to take a look at him, but I'm really leery of anything that resembles the Ronnie Brown move last year.Official Driver of the Eagles Bandwagon!!!

London Fletcher and Bell...Do it. Would be exactly what this backfield needs from an experience and a leadership perspective. Don't like signing 37 and 34 year olds, but this team needs an injection that these 2 would be able to give.
Consider me the official London Fletcher Fanclub Philly Sportscolumn President. Thank you.

We are real fortunate to even have this opportunity, IMO. As I said, Bowles should have as good of a handle on this guy as anyone. Get his agent on the line YESTERDAY and get him in here.
I'm not as down with Fletcher.....but just because he is soooo friggin old. He may have some useful seasons left, I dunno.http://shop.cafepress.com/content/global/img/spacer.gifOK, let's try this again...

I'd like to bring in leaderhsip and someone with soem experieince. If they both have lost a little, than we have a big hole. If both are intersted in mentoring and filling in when needed, I am OK with both. I hate to think we have aging players that we've brought in to suck taking the place of young players learning how to suck less.

So now that Ryans is in the nest, do we still want an Bell as an out spoken leader or are we creating a "too many cooks" situation? I'm all for bringing in good players - that's a no brainer, but with Ryans coming in to take on the leadership role and mentor the D the question becomes whether he and Bell can co-exist as leaders in the backfield on a new team? We saw what chemistry meant to this team last year and I'm suspicious that having two new leaders here may be an issue in the locker room.Official Driver of the Eagles Bandwagon!!!
