Fans tell Goodell they want end to blackouts

NFL fans want an end to blackouts and cheaper tickets for preseason games, the Associated Press reports. They want to be online at the game. Fans up North are looking for more cold weather Super Bowls, and maybe even a chance to host the draft.

Commissioner Roger Goodell got all those suggestions and more during an hour-long question and answer session with fans from all 32 teams before the regular season opened Wednesday with the Giants hosting the Cowboys.

The fans asked repeatedly about issues tied to their experiences at the game.

Goodell says preseason is a big issue among fans, noting "I hear that almost No. 1." He says "pretty much everything" is on the drawing board to either reduce preseason or make it more fan-friendly

I have to give him credit for at least opening the conversation. It would be easy to ignore the outcry for reduced preseason ticket prices etc. but instead they've been proactive in bringing fans in to talk about the issues. Whether they actually do anything is another story! My guess is that they'll find a preseason sponsor that will get access to everything from your address and email to having their way with your wife & daughter! - in exchange for offsetting the cost of the tickets by $20 per game. Some kind of upgraded sponsorship is very likely if this goes anywhere at all. That will allow the owners to continue to make their profits while giving the fans a little break in exchange for providing a new sponsorship opportunity for Ford and Visa.

Who cares about having wireless or internet access at the game? I mean, I get why people would use it, but you're there to watch a football game, no? To charge full freight for the preseason games is a joke and the # of games should be either reduced (without adding any new real games) or the prices should be slashed to reflect the bogus nature of the play...they are enhanced practice games, I'm still trying to understand how teams can charge for TC practices, but thats another story...when you can sit in your own living room with a giant beautiful TV and your own food/drinks and friends, any stadium does not stand a chance...

And yet, this is the first item they'll "cave" on. The NFL has actually already started thinking about implementing wireless everywhere because they know they're losing people who would rather sit in their own home with a giant beautiful TV and your own food/drinks and friends, and ready access to their FF teams.

Might not be an issue in philly but other cities don't always sell out.

I will bet dollars to donuts that the NFL will implement wireless everywhere and claim they listened to the fans. It's like when the DJ plays a song he was gonna play anyway from the REQUEST REQUESSSSST line!!!
