  • just interview everyone before making a decision, please!!

That's all I'm hoping for. If they decide Kelly is the guy, fine. I just hope they interview all of the potential guys that they have on their list. Their are some good and interesting football minds out there. This is a decision that's going to effect this organization for the next x amount of years, dont let Kelly or the Browns rush them into making a decision. If Kelly can't wait a few days until all interviews are done, let em walk.

That leads me into a question...Reading the tweets and headlines they all make it sound like the Eagles are seriously interested in Kelly, based on the fact their meeting lasted 6 hours or so. But isn't that normal?? Long interviews? When these guys look at guys who are going to be their new face of the franchise, I thought it was the norm to spend hours or a whole day with a guy. If they interview McCoy today for 6 hours, then Bradley tomorrow for 7, does that mean they want them more than Kelly?? I might be way off base, but again, I thought long interviews were expected but didnt necessarily mean thats the guy they want.

I hope they take their time and interview every guy they sit down with for hours and get to know every possible thing about him. Go through with a fine tooth comb. Then make the call. If Kelly is the man then, so be it.

From all indications the Eagles are going to continue their interviews. Lurie is not going to make a rash decision its not in his makeup. When he hired Reid he interviewed 9 candiates, then had second interviews before he hired him. Ray Rhodes I think it was 7. 9 hour interviews are not out of the ordinary.

I will say this I really believe Lurie uses these interviews as education more than anything. He drills Mike Nolan about defensive philosphy's, he talked to Chip Kelly about spread offenses and such. He gets a better feel for he game. Also I think its as much about presentation than anything. The coach who comes in the most prepared for the interview with the Eagles gets the job. Remember the book on long snapping that Reid had.

Theo I agree but only to a point. I want them to interview their top candidates before making a decision. I don't want them to wait until after the Super Bowl unless they are 100% certain that the new coach will come from one of those teams. The reason not to wait too long is so that we get the very best of the top coordinators in the league before they take deals with other teams. We've seen how important having the right coordinators is to the success of the team, the last thing I want to do is start over with a new HC but find the coordinators that are left are not ones we would have wanted a month earlier.

Juk, definitely see what your saying. Guess, it's kind of a catch 22. You rush to get the head coach to make sure you get the cooridinators you might be rushing and pick the wrong HC. You wait too long, the cooridinators are gone. Tough spot indeed.

Now both Cleveland and Philly have left Arizona and neither have word from Kelly. Maybe neither team actually offered any contract, and were just strictly doing interviews. But if either one did offer him something, and he still hasn't given an answer, after what he pulled with Tampa, I hope both teams just say forget it and leave him hanging. I guess that's bargaining power but this guy comes off like a serious pompous ass. You either want the job, or you dont (again, assuming one or both teams offered him the job.)

The system works as the system works. If Kelly is the guy they want.... they better get him now!

If they want him and don't get him now.... can't cry later.

Chip Kelly does not have to ALLOW the Eagles to interview 15 people, he could care less about those 15 he is only going to worry about Chip Kelly.

If the Eagles don't offer him their best deal now that means they aren't that sold on him, and they should continue the process.

Since nobody knows what Jeff wants as his #1 first choice we just don't know who they should and should not be offering the take it or leave it deal.

I agree MD, the Eagles either needed to pull the triger, or just be prepared to move on. It seems most often when coaches get hired, it's off the initial prolonged interview.

            Reid never left KC.
            Marrone never left Buffalo.

It seems more often than not, it clicks, or it doesn't.

The fact that The Eagles parted wants with Chip without a deal makes it a real long shot IMO that he end s up here. And I don't know that that bothers me that much. I am eagerly awaiting news of the McCoy meeting......
