  • News to me re-Vick.

    Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
    POSTED: Tuesday, January 29, 2013, 9:10 AM
The Eagles have longer than the three days following the Super Bowl to decide if they want to keep Michael Vick without having to pay a guaranteed $3 million.

The Eagles quarterback is due to receive that amount on Feb. 6, but the team is likely to buy time until the start of free agency on March 11 because of a provision in Vick's contract.

The Eagles would owe him the money only if no one else picked him up or if someone signed him for less than $3 million, according to an NFL source.

CBSSports.com first reported that the Eagles weren't likely to make a decision on whether to release Vick by Feb. 6.

........So, they have more time than I thought before they HAVE to make a decision on Vick. SOMEBODY will pick him up and pay him that kind of coin next year if the Eagles don't bring him back. Not the 15 mil, but the 3 mil, certainly.

I understand, but I want Kelly to have the opportunity to properly evaluate what he has and his options. f he thinks having Vick here at some value makes sense, then I would support it. I DOUBT it, but would support it.

If they sign Dixon right away I think they won't have to screw around and just cut him.

I'd hang onto him for a bit, see if you can get the Jets to bite and give up a mid-round draft pick for him.

vick for revis is actually not that crazy as long as vick agrees to renegotiate.

I doubt the Jets go this route. Ryan is on the hot seat and he'd be an idiot (ok make that a BIGGER idiot) to hitch his future to a guy who in the last two years has averaged 1 turnover for ever 32.25 snaps he takes.

I can see Reid being a better trading partner for Vick. Of course he won't give up much for him but (assuming Vick redoes his contract) maybe we can give him Vick swap 2nd & 3rd round picks. We would move up 1 spot in the second round and 4 spots in the 3rd and only give up a guy we plan to cut anyway.

Andy gets his stop gap QB who knows his system and he doesn't have to deal with a possible bidding war if someone else wants Vick. And it only makes him move back 1 spot in the 2nd round and 4 spots in the 3rd. It may not seem like we're getting much but think this is a far more likely scenario than the Jets giving us Revis for a guy everyone knows we're going to cut in a month.

If this goes through Juk, and Reid does go after Vick, than Reid truely is the idiot some people thought that he was.
