  • Why haven't the Birds looked at Kerry Rhodes?

This guy would be such an upgrade over any Safety
    currently on the roster.

And if Howie or Chip are reluctant to bring Rhodes
in because of the rumours of 'gayness' and their
concerns that it might be a distraction (or in Howie's
case, a temptation) I believe there is a perfectly innocent
explanantion for the pictures in question
    .

First, the most controversial picture...the supposed
'Kiss on the head' referenced by SF in another thread:

Actually, Kerry is whispering to the young stranger,
"Even though I don't know you, I'm so thankful I
was able to rescue you from that burning building!"

In this photo taken earlier, we see Rhodes as he carries the grateful young man,
whom he had never before met, from the burning building!

The young man, who is so happy to be alive, seems to be saying, "Even though I don't know you,
I'm so glad you bravely rescued me from the terrible fire."

And finally, we see Kerry and the young stranger looking on
as the building burns to the ground.

They both seem to be thinking, 'Even though we don't know one another at all, and are both
definitely not gay, we are very thankful to be alive'
    .

So come on Howie! Bring Kerry in for a close look (Just not too close)

(And don't try to make an issue out of the fact that Kerry is
wearing different clothes in each picture. While definitely not gay,
he is 'fashion forward' and changes outfits frequetnly!)

that's just not right. Tino, rush to the cheerleader thread and look at as many girls as possible. You just spent WAYYYYYYY to much time on gayness.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

      mm,

You don't understand my motives here. This is all about 'Straightness' being mistaken as 'Gayness'. I don't know Kerry Rhodes personally but I believe he's being blackballed by the NFL unfairly.

We need look no further than a member of this forum to see how unfairly a 'straight' person can be treated because of ugly, unfounded rumors. I won't use his name and will describe him only as tall, blond, lives in Florida and is marries to Susie. He did nothing more than accept a coworker's invitation to a local Cigar Club...and his his reputation has been ruined!

How was he supposed to know there was a hidden meaning in the message on the invitation that read, "New members may enter through the front door but will soon be welcomed by older members at the back door."

But what harm could occur by spending some time @ the cheerleader thread ?

I don't think he's being blackballed. I just don't think anybody wants to deal with it. Why go looking for trouble? Zona certainly had enough.

I visit frequently to insure that you youngins are showing proper respect to the fairer sex. I must admit though that I would also enjoy seeing pictures reflecting the deep esteem in which we hold women. One tried and true way of showing appreciation is through the bestowing of gifts to the ladies.

for example, a pearl necklace never goes out of style!

                  Just sayin!

I'd take Richards Simmons if he can cover and hit right now

Richard Simmons would play with more heart than Nate Allen.

Nate thought he played "OK" yesterday. Here are a few classic post game comments from worthless Nate that I found in a piece on the sorry state of our Safeties by Jeff McLane in this morning's Inky:

As for Allen, he thought he played "OK," had "things I can work on" and "learn from" that will help him to "keep moving forward."

After four seasons - four too many - it may be time for the Eagles to admit that their 2010 second-round draft pick isn't an NFL starter. Asked about the Eagles' pass defense, the one that allowed quarterback Phillip Rivers to complete 77 percent of his passes for 419 yards, Allen said there was "nothing wrong with it." He amended his first statement to say that the Chargers got the Eagles on "a few routes, a lot of routes," but his first instinct always has been to not get too high or too low.

Nate, there is a difference between those two choices and not having a pulse.

Can't wait to bust Giant buddies over this - many sheli jokes!

Kerry Rhodes to work out for Giants Tuesday

Former Jets and Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes will be visiting the Giants, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger. The person requested anonymity because workout details are not made public.

The news was first reported by Pro Football Talk.

Rhodes, 31, finished his tenure in Arizona with an impressive four interceptions and 11 passes deflected. He forced a pair of fumbles and started 15 of 16 games in the highly-rated Cardinals defense last year.
