  • KC Star: Chiefs Speculate on Pursuing Maclin

    http://www.kansascity.com/2014/01/18...pgrade-in.html

It's just this blurb. Saw it on Rotoworld.

As far as free agents go, Corry says former Missouri star Jeremy Maclin, who tore his ACL before the season and was drafted by Reid in Philadelphia, could be a perfect fit.

“I’d give him a decent one-year salary and give him upside through incentives,” Corry said. “Andy knows him, so he shouldn’t have a problem with the offense, and that’s another potential playmaker.”

Agreed. AND they have the cap room big time.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

If they are only offering him a 1 year deal he is going to stay here. Chips offense will give him more opportunity to prove he is back than Andy's will, and then he can become a free agent next year and get the big payday
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

He did play in Mizzou as well. Makes sense

I'd rather we kept Maclin. But I understand they need to move on if someone else gives him too much for us to gamble on

Its 50/50 that he makes it past training camp- let him walk.

I've just never been all that impressed with him. He has been a tease. BUT, if Cooper can look that good in this offense, you have to wonder what Maclin might be able to do(if healthy). I'm on the fence with this one, and won't lose a bunch of sleep if he goes elsewhere.

                Cooper 6'3" 222lbs
                Maclin 6'0" 198lbs
                Desean 5'10" 175lbs

Maclin is average all the way around. We need a tall, big body as a #2 after Jackson. I would love to get a top notch big body to replace Cooper. But, I would settle for Cooper over Maclin at this point.

Maclin is far more dangerous than Cooper, who is a big body and easily replaced. Re-sign Maclin and grab Hakeem Nicks or take one of the big bodied wideouts in the draft. Don't give Cooper big money.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

Cooper has 2 years though working with Foles. Keep him. Let Maclin go. Draft a mid-round WR that can grow into Maclin's spot.

You make a good point. You have to take into account that Cooper has a good rapport with Foles, and if Foles is your guy going forward, and Cooper is valuable.

I don't think the Birds will draft a wr unless an absolute stud drops to them, and what are the odds of that at pick number 22? They only have 7 picks this year so I don't see them moving up at all, and 2 of them are in round 7.

I've never understood the hate for maclin. He has played well, he just can't stay as healthy as we'd like. Until last year, his numbers were equal to or better than Jackson over the first few years of their careers. Maclin's speed in this offense may be a thing of beauty. While he is average, he may be the best of both of Cooper and Jackson. He has more speed than one and more size than the other. When I lay it out, the issue is not necessarily Cooper or maclin it is Maclin/Cooper or Avant. Cooper could play the slot with Maclin out wide. The dollars will lead us to the Wr group we have, but Maclin, Cooper and Jackson seems a whole lot more dangerous than replacing any one of them with Avant.

I'm not the biggest Maclin fan, but if he wants to be here and wants to run block, Maclin, Jackson and Cooper would be very interesting now that we have a QB that can see the field and read defenses. Also, Maclin, Jackson makes the TEs better as well. I just want to see him block.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

More on Maclin, from Birds 24/7:

                              http://www.phillymag.com/birds247/20...-notes-maclin/

When Maclin addressed the media a day after the Eagles’ loss to the Saints he informed us that he had started running, and that the next step in the process was to begin working on lateral movement. He has since reached that stage, we’re told. He is rehabbing multiple times a day. Per team policy he can only be at the facility during certain hours. When he is finished there he’ll head home to do more work. The knee is said to be responding well.

Maclin’s agent and Howie Roseman have had some preliminary talks. It has been made clear that the receiver’s first choice is to stay in Philadelphia. That doesn’t mean it’s a lock that he is back. Maclin will probably have several suitors, some of whom might be willing to offer more years and money than the Eagles are. What happens if he receives a multi-year deal from Team X and only a one-year deal from the Eagles? Depends on which team we’re talking about and how much money is on the table. Maclin’s camp will evaluate each scenario from a variety of angles before making a decision.

This doesn’t feel like a “highest dollar” situation. Fit is important. The 25-year-old is open to playing on a one-year deal if need be.
