    Dropped By CBS

    Shannon Sharpe

    'Sad, Disappointed, Grateful'

    After Being Dropped By CBS

2/18/2014 11:28 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

    EXCLUSIVE

Shannon Sharpe tells TMZ Sports ... he's bummed out after getting the news that he's out at "The NFL Today" pregame show at CBS ... but says, "I'm grateful I had ten great years."

CBS announced the move today ... Shannon and Dan Marino will not return to the show next season. Instead, Tony Gonzalez will join the cast.

"Things happen," Sharpe says ... "They made the best decision for them and now I have to make the best decision for me."

Sharpe is adamant he has "no hard feelings" toward CBS -- adding, "They've been great to me."

As for Tony G -- Sharpe says they're friends and he wishes Tony the best of luck.

"I know Tony wanted to do this so I'm happy for him and his family."

So, what's next for Shannon? He's still trying to evaluate his options, but it's clear you haven't heard the last from the Hall of Fame tight end.

"I have strong beliefs, ideas and passions. I can do more than just sports ... I don't want to box myself in."

I have a major problem with this dismissal !!!!!! What the hell took so long. Sharpe isn't a bad guy, but he should consider going back to school and learn a primary language, like English.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Yeah, I have no hate for Shannon. Just didn't do much for the program. I would have to think that Gonzo is a good pick up.

Gonzalez is bright, thoughtful and articulate. Shannon Sharp has a pulse.

A pulse going 500mph. Another super egomaniac like his brother who constantly can't wait to tell you how good he was. Good riddance!

I will give him credit, year one he would go on a 1 minute rant and I would shake my head and wonder what the fuck he said. After 10 years, I could understand half of what he said.

            what took them so long?

Shannon Sharpe's voice was so terrible I couldn't even listen to what he had to say. You know, part of being a commentator is your voice.

What do you mean? You didn't understand what he said when he said... "The Colts need to get Luck da ball in hists hands more a lot. He's a good QB for being a QB".

It wasn't just that his commentary was useless. His nasal/thick tongued voice drove me nuts.

All these pregame shows SUCK!!

The thing is, they used to be really useful. So is it that we don't need them anymore or because they suck that we stopped watching?
