Looks like the Commits had better start keeping an eye on his bosses too.

Colts owner Jim Irsay arrested on DUI charge

Colts owner James Irsay was arrested by Carmel Police Sunday night on preliminary drunken-driving charges and possession of a controlled substance, Bill McCleery of the Indianapolis Star reports.

The bond for Irsay was set at $22,500, said Bryant Orem of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.

Carmel police say they will release details of the arrest soon.

In a tweet on Oct. 21, 2013, Irsay said he has not had a drink in 15 years.

Meg Irsay filed to divorce Jim Irsay last November. They had been married 33 years.

He's only 54? He looks like he's in his 60s at least. Four felony charges? Ouch. Coming out he's had a serious drug problem the last few years... might explain the divorce, the odd comments online, etc.

Yeah, the discipline part is going to be the most interesting aspect of all of this. When Detroit's president (not owner) was charged with DWI, he was fined $100K and suspended for 30 days. Will be interesting to see if it stays consistent for this. Sounds like Irsay needs help more at first though -- this doesn't seem like a one-time over even occasional mistake. He's admitted to being addicted to Vicodin in the past (supposedly handled) but sounds like he's fallen off of more than one wagon, and probably had a couple of others he should have been on.

Agreed! Irsay is an addict... that doesn't give him a pass for being a self-absorbed asshole and desperate attention whore!

But it's Goodell's lap dog discipline of Owners (vs relatively stiff penalties for Players who really fuck up) that makes HIM the hypocrite villain in my eyes.

He is the son of a terrorist, his father committed an act of terror on the people of Baltimore and all Colts fans! He is guilty by blood relations and should be in Guantanamo with the rest of them!

I had to laugh when I read this, check out what this idiot had in the car with him. HAHAHAHA.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Irsay declined the request after an officer determined Irsay was driving erratically, going only 10 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone.

Per the report, Irsay’s speech was slurred, and he had trouble standing. In addition to pills that resulted in a quartet of felony charges, Irsay had in his possession more than $29,000 in cash, including $14,516 in a briefcase, $2,513 in his wallet, and $12,000 in a laundry bag on the floor of the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

The refusal to submit to blood testing triggers a mandatory one-year suspension of Irsay’s driver’s license. Irsay later was required via court order to submit to blood testing. He also voluntarily submitted to breath testing, but the results were redacted from the police report.
