  • Still 7-3 guys

Today sucked no doubt but if we split with Dallas and win the rest of our games, which I think is pretty likely, we win the division. Based on what I have seen so far when Rodgers plays like that the Pack are the best team and we are in a mix with the Cards, Seahawks, 49ers, lions, and Cowboys for the second best team.

Also, please remember aside from the Marcus Smith debacle, the front office is really building a quality roster and there is no need to think that will not continue.

Team clearly still needs a difference maker at corner, a long term solution at ILB to play next to MK as Mufasa can't be counted on I am afraid. Also be nice to have another rusher, but this defense is solid. Let's recall the previous 9 games where the defense was mostly good.

The O is young and talented too and we have good options at qb.

Agree today was hard to swallow but after the last year of AR I am shocked we are 7-3 again so quickly. And also remember the Gnats and Skins are terrible, especially at QB, and the Cowboys 2 best offensive players are gonna get paid and either bust their cap or go elsewhere.

    Go Birds

Forget about that pesky team from Seattle?

I appreciate your trying to be positive-- but this team isn't ready-- now-- to play with the big boys and go deep into the playoffs. The secondary stinks, flat out stinks. The D line is very up and down. The O-Line doesn't look nearly as sharp now (and 4/5ths are the same O-Line.) as they did last year.

They still have time and lot's of room for improvement, and I also think Chip will get this rectified.

But this is all more based on HOPE right now than it is fact.

Absolutely. Almost every good team has looked terrible at some point this season, and this was sort of our day. Our defense has improved but we still have no high-end talent at corner, and QBs like Rodgers can still pick them apart if they are given time. We are at least much better against the next tier down of QBs. Hopefully this was just one of those games.

I think we win the division as well. It would be really nice to get a first round bye and to not have to play at Green Bay if it gets to that point, but the losses to Arizona and Green Bay are going to make that hard as we will lose tiebreakers to those teams.

We've got a puncher's chance. We have been sloppy all year, losing the turnover battle yet again tonight. If we can turn that around, we could be dangerous.

We had four turnovers, they had ZERO and they turned two of those into TD's. Then there was the punt return for a TD.

There were some blatant misses of helmet to helmets on Sanchez that were missed that Joe Buck pointed out, knowing full well Aikman wouldn't since he hates the Eagles.

The Eagles needed to play a solid game and they didn't even come close.
If you're going to lose, might as well make it a dumpster fire- which they did.

I think the Packers game showed us that we have many holes to fill - including QB - to be a truly good team. I have serious doubts that we can go to the SB with either Foles or Sanchez at the helm.

As pointed out earlier, our secondary needs a serious overhaul. At the very least, we need a shut-down corner and a safety.

Yes, we probably will win our division, but is there really any hope of advancing very far in the playoffs? Not really.

Better QB play solves a lot of issues. So does a very gifted edge rusher.

Going in people knew it would be a tough game. Rogers is playing as well as any QB in the league and the GB coaching staff is quality. Nelson is having an excellent year and Mathews (not ours unfortunately) is a top LB in the league.
Having said that I agree the birds weren't mentally ready for the game. They were blindsided early by the pack offense. Those two third down conversions (something like 3 and 18 and 3 and ten) hurt. They had to get Nelson off his route and pressure Rogers which they didn't do. On O the birds couldn't find a third down that they didn't screw up. Wide open Mathews and Sanchez just misses him.
These things happen (the packers got spanked and embarrassed not too long ago) so watch the tape and vow to pay them back because the Packers will be in the playoffs. All the birds have to do to be in the playoffs is beat Dallas twice. That same scenario was true last week.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
              Hope is not a strategy

I think the stat I heard was that Rogers was 36-3 at home? That is pretty ridiculous and anyone expecting a win was insane

I will admit, getting demolished was not in my head. But stuff happens. It was the perfect shit storm og GBY playing out of their minds perfect and us just making little mistake after little mistake

my heart says "remember the year we beat SF 40-8 and they went on to win the title?

my head says "is there a worse defensive back trio in the league than Fletcher, Williams, Allen"?

Kelly has done a good job of putting this team together quickly. But he still has a ton to fix on defense. They are not ready to compete for a title

but I hope they make the playoffs and go down swinging. I'd hate to go out in a game like yesterdays though

Seriously though. On the first long pass to Nelson that was a great throw and catch. Fletch had inside leverage there.

Sanchez got rattled in second half when we had to throw every down.

Special teams was bad for first time all year.

Our OL looked shell shocked and a step behind all game. Don't know what that was about.

Huff and Matthews both dropped passes that were catchable to sustain drives.

We were sliding all over the place too.

I am not saying we didn't get hammered because we did but we are still a young team with a lot of talent. Stay the course is all I am saying.

Allen will play loose for the rest of the year now. Teams will throw under him all day long.

As was noted up thread, every team has had a blowout loss this season, most of them on the road, and yesterday was the Eagles' turn. I'm just annoyed that it turns out most of the Eagles' tougher games this season were/are on the road; if some of them are home games they are more likely to win, and the home games that would have become road games are games the Eagles still probably win. It will be hard for the Eagles to get a bye week, considering Arizona and Green Bay (and for that matter San Francisco) win head-to-head tiebreakers and Detroit also owns the tiebreaker right now.

I personally don't think the Eagles are good enough to make the Super Bowl, but every team has flaws and can be beaten (though some teams are very hard to beat in their home stadiums). You can't make the Super Bowl if you don't make the playoffs, and the Eagles are still in good shape to make the playoffs. The last few years have proven almost anything can happen if you make the playoffs.

don't know about Matthews, but Huff has been doing that all year and it needs to stop. Cuz I think he brings more to the table than Cooper does. He just needs to settle down and work on those darn hands

They also said he has 28 TDs and just 3 INTs in his last X number of home games. Ridiculous. That's hard to beat.

Simply put, we are an above average team, nothing more.

In Chip's time here, he is 2-7 against teams with wining records. He is something like 15-2 against losing teams. What does that tell you? We are above average, but below the top level teams. How much of that has to do with Chip, and how much of that has to do with personnel(talent) I can't say, tho I would weigh it more heavily on talent. Unlike the previous regime, supposedly Chip doesn't have much to do with player signings/selection. I guess that makes Howie my target at this time as the guy who needs to get things done.........but that doesn't do anything more for us THIS season.

I think Chip will get everything possible out of this group.....and we will probably be a one-and-done type of team, again.

Yesterday was a clear look into the future if the Eagles don't address the secondary IMMEDIATELY next year. If they had taken Haha instead of Smith Rodgers likely would have had to look a little longer than the 1/2 second he needed to dice the secondary yesterday. I am still on the Foles bandwagon and think he can still show that he has the goods to take us deep in the playoffs but I have ZERO confidence in Sanchez. 6 turnovers in 3 games is what you expect from a rookie, not a 5 year vet who was the 5th pick overall. WE have a lot of holes to fill and a lot of questions to answer today, but I'm sure Mark "Dirty" Sanchez is not one of them!
