Dunno, as I have not tried those. We got my wife a set of cans(over the ear) of another brand that wee noise cancelling, and they are real nice for on the airplanes. Bose.......I think you pay for the name to some extent. But hey, if I had Jukin money, I wouldn't worry about it!
What did you get Fresh? I'm open for suggestions on a good pair of headphones. Right now I use the ones that came with the Ipod but I'll be traveling a lot more with this new job so I wanted something for the plane rides. (Heading to the Univ of So. Carolina in a few weeks for my first venture for this firm. Should be fun!)

I think they were audio-technicas. My wife is not an audio-phile, and she loves them. I listened to them, and they sounded pretty damned good to me, of r1/2 the price of the Bose.
For myself, I have a pair of Beats, in green, of course!
I have the Bose non-noise-canceling earbuds, and they are fantastic! I dunno about noise-cancelling earbuds, though...the circuitry needed for active noise-cancelling seems like it wouldnt fit in that small of a package, so I wonder how effective it is.
FWIW, my Bose earbuds block a LOT of noise. Link below: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...f_rd_i=desktop
Earbuds are great if you can handle them being in our ears. I'm a big fan of Shures. Because they act as ear plugs, they block out everything. Comfort is the biggest issue.
Bose noise canceling headphones (over the ears) are great for constant noises (think airplane engine) but won't noise cancel people. (Too random)
I just bought a pair of audio technicas for $100. Awesome.

I have a pair of Bose over-the-ear noise-cancelling headphones, and they are great for plane travel. I've also worn them at work, and thought that they were comfortable and provided good (not great) sound quality. I do think that they are a little pricey.
I haven't heard the Audio Technicas, but I do know that AT is a very well respected brand. Their phono cartridges for record turntables are used by some of the best vinyl rippers that I know.
