  • Wentz

Can't believe they would do this but here is someone thinking the birds might still be looking to move up.

As an aside NFL network had live coverage of Wentz Pro Day this morning. Jackson and Cleveland was there in force. I think he is their pick

I think Wentz's pro day is being replayed on NFL Net tonight at 7

The skinny: The Eagles clearly need a QB.

Umm, the Eagles signed Sam Bradford, and Daniel. They may desire a QB, but I can't see them giving up what it would take to move up for Wentz.

    I could be wrong though.

yea me too. Cleveland just signed RG III. Does that let them trade out or does it give them someone to take the heat for 8 games before they put a rookie in there

It sounds pretty stupid to me, but then again I don't understand the cap if it even exists. Between QBs and TEs we must have $100 million tied up. The way Howie is throwing money around leads me to believe there isn't one.

Nah there is a cap 60 but you would only recognize it if you recognize swiss cheese because there are lots of ins and outs. The FA signings he has made this year have been cheap signings. The home grown guys have gotten more but some of that is reduction of this years cap money or money spread out that they won't see or some will be money that goes off the books when they get cut or yada or yada.
The way every team in the NFL juggles the books you would think they work in the Fed Gov.

That FO was so screwed up after reading the mess you have to wonder how anything was accomplished. How does a guy like Kelly who wants to know what you eat, when you sleep, what you think not talk to the guy writing the contracts???? At least it's clear who runs the show now. A couple of thoughts on that:

Two pretty darned good coaches have been fired along with a GM since Howie hit Dodge.

Howie also wrote those big contracts last year.

Both coaches and the GM (I guess you are talking about "The Weasel") deserved to be fired. So, instead of blaming Howie, perhaps you should be praising him.

I have no problem with WentZ however I think he is way gone by the time we pick.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Chip Kelly and damn good coach in the same sentence? Actually I have to say both Kelly and Reid got fired more for what they did as GM's than coaches on the field. Although Kelly's year last year was just awful all the way around.

As far as moving up, yeah I can see them doing it to get Wentz or possibly Goff. Lurie has put out an edict that he wants a franchise QB. He said is many times. So far they have not filled that yet. Now that is not saying Bradford can't be, but I bet they take another swing and it could be a huge swing. To get Wentz I am thinking its going to take 8 and at least next years 1 and possibly a player. I wonder if 8, 2017 number 1 and Agholor gets it done? Not that I would do it just hypothetically.

I'm on record as saying no to a QB. Moving up for one would DOUBLE piss me off!!!!!

I don't see either Wentz or Goff making it to #8. One of them is going to Chip at #7 and the other will be gone before that.

I wouldn't move up to get either Wentz or Goff but I certainly would draft one of them if they were there at 8. I know you are not because you are a Sam I am fan but I still skeptical that he is the future.

That's the way I see it. If they are there at #8, I would draft them, but I don't think the Eagles can afford both the money they have invested currently at the position, and the cost of moving up.
