They really seem to be playing 17 on 11. Not that some of the penalties weren't penalties, but seems like their eyes were closed for the team in blue. There is a lot to like about this team though. Just kicked the FG to make it 23-21 so let's see how this plays out.

Watching the Game Right Now
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.Tags: None

A day later
Man that was a frustrating game. Definitely a game they should have won but it doesn't happen. The reasons are obvious. The D didn't show up in the beginning--how in the hell do you let them walk down the field like that during their first three possessions I will never know. The refs have to be looked at--that performance was ridiculous. Doug & Co have to send tape of dozens of calls to the league and ask for that ref team to be blown up. Mathews just made a juvenile mistake in carrying the ball in the wrong hand. Not sure why you make that call at the end of the game when we don't have that kind of a receiver but they should have never been in that position.
But.....I thought Wentz played well. I also thought our receivers played well for the most part (DGB should have been able to keep that TD but the back made a good play with his hands). The D showed up late and played well but they need o show up at game time. Doug called a pretty good game again. I do think teams are getting more tape and starting to get a handle on the birds O.
They mentioned during the game how the birds change things up series to series. I'm not sure every team doesn't try that. But the birds do have Reich, DeFillipo, and Pederson who have all been OCs. As time goes on it might be nice to have one or the other have more influence in the game plan or play calling in order to be less predictable.
EDIT: This was supposed to be a separate thread. Not sure how I put it in with mm's thread.Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy

Those are all good points ND. Charles Davis pointed out that the Bird receivers just don't get any separation yet Wentz still finds the windows to get the ball to them. I don't think the kid has very far to be great because he may be there right now!
As far as the refs go a lot of it was a complete joke. There was a lot of confusion among them as to what the hell was going on and they didn't even explain half most of their screw ups. That crew must be part of the Good Ol Boys club because they stink and still work games. The NFL needs professional refs but are just too cheap to do it."Hey Giants, who's your Daddy?"

hell one play they called an ineligible receiver downfield (Barwin by the way who isn't in the game) on a pass at the sideline where they thought the ball may have come loose and after the looking at things it turned into a completion. Umm, what happened to the ineligible?Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

I have TIVO so I rewound the leaping call. I really didn't see anything there to warrant leaping. So while they correctly picked up the two flags, they were flags that shouldn't have been thrown. Heck they couldn't even figure out what team was on offense or defense. Bad calls and missed calls are going to happen but the way that game was so blatantly called one sided you have to wonder. Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

IMO it was one helluva legal block. Yeah, the Sproles block was a thing of beauty.
Did the refs feel the need to throw a flag just because the guy got his ass kicked so badly?http://shop.cafepress.com/content/global/img/spacer.gifOK, let's try this again...
