  • Observations from last nights game

A win a glorious win. Not a perfect game by any means but we lead from start and finished off an over rated Giants team but a team that has 10 wins this year.

    1. Wentz had a very good game. Only threw the ball 24 times, made some great throws and aside from the nice catch on the sideline by Nelson Agholor his receivers did nothing to help him. We are seeing more and more every week just how athletic he is.

    2. I might just blow up the entire receiving corp after this year. Basic things like when your QB is scrambling for his life you come back to the QB, you don't stand there like a statue Brice Treggs or Nelson Agholor (on the deep throw that looked two yards short) Put on the tape of the Green Bay receivers and watch them.

    3. Just heard Ryan Mathews season is over and honestly probably his career, its a shame because he was playing his best ball of his career.

    4. Beau Allen was really good last night. In fact he has been pretty good over the past few weeks. Might just be getting used to playing in a 4-3. I want Bennie Logan back but if that dollar figure gets too high and precludes you from adding a corner, you have to let Bennie go. If they do Allen might just be good enough to replace him.

    5. What a diservice the defensive coordinators have been doing Malcolm Jenkins the past two years. Let him stay at safety, when he does he makes plays. He is not a good slot corner and should not be back there anymore.

    6. Welcome back Lane Johnson, it was if he never missed 10 games. Most important player on defense aside from Wentz going forward.

    7. Allen Barbre is a candidate to be let go at the end of the year. The past two years the guy just gets hurt. Give his money to Wiz or insert Seumolo back next year.

    8. We finally got a game that a questionable no call went our way. However, the officials were letting the players play and I would much rather that than the ticky tacky stuff.

Watching this team last night just tells me the season that could have been, We knew all along that we were not deep, losing a star player like Lane Johnson hurt this team so much. I think the Eagles are every bit as good as the Giants and Redskins. They will finish above both of them next year. The Cowboys are another story, there defense is young and getting better and they hit the jackpot with Prescott. Those games are going to be fun going forward.

I didn't give Wentz kudos in the other thread, the INT was a piss poor decision and he threw the same ball later that was almost picked. He had some serious escapes and IMO looked quicker than at any point in the season, but is still trying to muscle too many balls in to receivers.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Watch those plays again, the receivers are the problem not Wentz, Keep throwing it deep big boy, one day you will have a reciever who understands how to play the position and can make a play on the ball in the air. Then folks like MM will say how great a play it was. It simply was not a piss poor decision by the QB it is a piss poor decision to have players like Brice Treggs on this team.

when he makes a great play I WILL say so. That was a piss poor decision IMO. I am allowed an opinion.

Obviously never played the game. Great decision and good play by the QB poor play by a minor league at best wide out. QB can't do it in both sides, the wide outs suck on this team and are holding back this QB from greatness. If you can't see it I am sorry, but that was not a piss poor decision, in this league you have to make plays on the ball you can't sit there playing with your Johnson waiting for the ball to get there.

I believe it was Collingsworth who said it was a mistake he will learn from. I believe I will take his credentials over yours sir. I realize he was just a Pro WR and has been calling games for a while now and even had a gig on Showtime .Wanna list your credentials that makes your opinion the correct one. Sorry if you can't see it. By the way , played , coached and been a fan my entire life and still allowed to have an opinion.

Whoa, easy guys.... personally I saw the INT and the next time in the same situation as a little of both.

Wentz has AND will learn that NFL players are all all stars compared to what he faced in college and he will learn from that --- the WR's on this team do stink and I am starting to waiver on the coaching a bit--- you have to see your QB in trouble and react, you have to come back for that ball at full speed if nothing else to prevent the INT (last night was not the first time it happened either).

Both positions were at fault... and both can learn from them with proper coaching. Although we should expect a learning curve more from the rook QB, then the WR's who should all know this.

On point #5, they are not going with Malcom at corner becase that was the plan. It's out of necessity....because what corners we DO have left STINK!

Another observation I would make.....or perhaps it's the absence of an observation......is the mysterious missing LB, Kendricks. Myngoodness, mhe couldn't even get on the field over Tulloch when there was an injury. How far has his stock fallen? The only observation I made of him last night was him being out of position and blowing an assignment.

IMO, Wentz was late and under threw those passes. When the receiver is beyond the defender the pass should be thrown ahead of the receiver. That is not to say that our receivers would be able to catch the pass, but DJax would score on a throw that he could reach beyond the defender and towards the endzone.

Wentz shows a slow brain like McNabb a lot of times.

Wentz made several bad passes last night period. He also threw some pretty damned good ones. I'm not sure how much you "learn" running for your life and throwing to dog shit. And what ever happened to the simple rule for receivers when your QB is scrambling "if the QB is running towards you run away and when he runs away from you go towards him". The only guy that I've seen execute it is Sproles who ran away from Wentz on a scramble earlier this season?

I'd give Wentz a C for his passing last night, an A for his scrambling and an A+ for his balls!

Receivers don't come back to the ball or fight for the ball. There was lots of wind last night too so I'll attribute some of those errant passes to wind. Most of Eli's passes were lame ducks.

Good point on the wind. Both of the throws that are in question were in the 2nd quarter where the Eagles were going into the wind. However it doesn't excuse the piss poor receivers on this team that just don't know how to make a play on the ball. Interesting enough, Will Tye of the Giants did the same thing that Treggs did, he sat there waiting for the ball that Brooks picked off.
