NFL Trade Rumors: Eagles, Saints discussing Mark Ingram for Jason Kelce deal

So it looks like our earlier suggestion about the Eagles trading Jason Kelce for Mark Ingram might not just be speculation after all. Check out what Kyle Scott of Crossing Broad is hearing.

Indeed, I heard from a Little Birdie that the Eagles and Saints have spoken about said potential trade, and that discussions are still in the very early stages. Whether a deal gets done is still up in the air, but it would make sense for both teams.

As always, all rumors must be taken with a grain of salt. But with that said, Crossing Broad has done a great job of reporting on the Eagles this offseason. They nailed: the Alshon Jeffery signing, the Stefen Wisniewski re-signing, the Chris Long signing, the Eagles playing the Raiders on Christmas day, and the Eagles drafting a defensive end in the first round (Derek Barnett). That’s a pretty good track record. It’s interesting, then, to hear that there might be some substance to this Kelce-for-Ingram trade.

The trade would certainly make sense for both sides. The Saints need a center after losing current starter Max Unger, 31, to a foot injury. He’d be an instant starter for New Orleans. Philadelphia could easily replace Kelce with either Wisniewski or 2016 third-round pick Isaac Seumalo. The Eagles desperately need help at running back since they currently only have Darren Sproles, Wendell Smallwood, Donnel Pumphrey, and Corey Clement in the plans for 2017. Ingram would give the Eagles a real lead back in their committee approach.

The Saints might be willing to part with Ingram after signing Adrian Peterson and giving up a 2018 second-round pick in order to trade up for Alvin Kamara. New Orleans could also just easily keep the 27-year-old Ingram since he’s on a very reasonable contract and he’s coming off a strong year. He rushed for 1,043 yards and six touchdowns in 2016. He also logged 46 receptions for 319 yards and four receiving scores.

Ingram for Kelce straight up doesn’t seem like a realistic trade. Ingram is younger than Kelce (who turns 30 in November) and has been the better player lately. There might need to be some draft picks involved. It’s worth noting the Eagles own three fourth round selections in 2018: their own, a pick from Vikings via the Sam Bradford trade, and a pick from the Patriots via the Eric Rowe trade (the Rowe pick can become as high as a third, by the way). So maybe Kelce and a fourth for Ingram?

Philadelphia and New Orleans engaged in trade conversations earlier this offseason about Brandin Cooks. The two sides ultimately couldn’t get a deal done, however, and Cooks was sent to the New England Patriots. Maybe both sides can find a resolution that makes sense for both teams this time around.

Just saw that Popper & it makes alot of sense for both Teams which is a good scenario in any deal. This Rumor has some teeth, let's see where it leads down the road. Maybe sooner than later? Guess we'll find out soon enough.
Just give me ONE before I go!

I just read where the Birds might be looking for a trade just for draft picks too. They have no #2 but have 2 #4s next year so there could be something going along that line too with the Eagles trying to move up. New Orleans lost their talented center to a foot injury last week. Who knows, there might be something going on here.

I disagree with the contention that the eagles need to sweeten the deal. NO needs a center, Kelce, while older, certainly has a strong pedigree of results, and Ingram is certainly no Elliott. He had a decent year last year but before that he was quite ordinary. Just one man's opinion.

Good grief. This was on PFT today, and it's nothing more than an idea that was floated by Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com. http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2...rt_river_index

Heard from a little birdie my ass.

I hope the NJ Times sent the memo to New Orleans.

Personally I don't think Kelce is going anywhere. It seems that the fans are a lot more interested in moving him than the Birds are.

This could be the case. Timmy Jernigan singled out Kelce as a difficult opponent at his initial presser. He obviously gives up something in straight ahead blocking, but he is good at pulling and blocking downfield.

I think that he's going to have some problems in division games with teams that really know him. Maybe those tackles just line up over him and the D does some twists in those gaps when the nose doesn't just fire right at him. Or maybe the word is just out on him. He's terrific when the front four just sit in their basic. Kind of a tough call there.

The original rumor was not from Elliot "know nothing" Parks. It was actually something that Gym Shorts (a guy on Twitter) threw out there first. Then Parks wrote an article on it.

The one thing I will say is Kyle Scott has nailed an ton on the Eagles this offseason way before anyone else. If he says its been discussed it most likely has been discussed.

Does that mean there is a deal to be had. Most likely NO, by time these things hit the media either they are about to happen or its been discussed and either tabled or there was no common ground. My guess is New Orleans wanted Kelce and a pick for Ingram and Howie wanted either Ingram and a pick for Kelce. No common ground.

Also Eagles 60 the Eagles have at least 3 #4's next year

Their own, Minnesotas and New Englands. The New England one could become a 3 if Rowe plays 50% of the snaps but I doubt that will happen. He seems like he is being burried in New England.

Check out the last proposal. I think that's way too much to give up for an often injured receiver. No matter how good he is when healthy.

Any trade for Marcus Smith would be good if it meant cap savings for the Eagles. Yeldon is painfully average and really has no value to us either as Barner gave you more IMO.

I really have no idea how good Hill is but Kendricks is a good LB and I see no reason for the trade.

Watkins would probably be a good deal for us if we didn't all of a sudden have a lot to sort out with some pretty good receivers. I don't see any reason to get rid of 2 pretty good backups and a guy who nobody wants other than cap relief for us. Wouldn't Watkins be on a one year contract too. I don't think Buffalo wants to trade him anyway.

Man this guy is working overtime to come up with this stuff.

Nasty film there Steve on Kelce. Maybe he gained 30 lbs. this off season?
