    From Oklahoma, Charles Walker
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Gee, I didn't even know that they played defense in that conference.

As far as UDFA signings go, this is actually a really interesting one. All UDFA signings are low risk by definition, but this guy has significant upside.

This guy's upside is only looking up from a stretcher

        This from Tommy Lawler:

Very interesting. I wasn’t sure what to make of this kid before the draft. He has serious talent. His highlight moments are good. But he’s been inconsistent and had a slew of injuries, including 3 concussions. He only played 4 games this year. After a concussion vs TCU, he decided to sit out the rest of the season. Concussions aren’t anything to be taken lightly so you can understand his thinking.

This could be a real steal. He has battled depression and now has it under control. Some draft gurus had him pegged as a first round talent! (ex. Mel Kiper)

Concussion history is very troubling, but as very one has said evidently there is some big upside.

3 concussions, depression-there's a reason this guy didn't get drafted and didn't play his senior year guys. Remember the center for Oakland who decided not to show up for the SB because he was depressed and they got destroyed? It certainly doesn't hurt bringing him into camp and maybe stash him on the PS but please don't count on him. He's much too risky.

We will see on this one. Certainly has the talent but there have been many a player who has good to great talent who has passed through this town that didn't make it. The concussion history along with the depression history are not good.

Just reported on @gmfb: #Saints star C Max Unger has suffered a foot injury and is expected to miss the start of the 2017 season, source say

So when are they even going to get a look at this guy? I think it's a wasted sighing.

Does he have upside. Sure in my mind. Will that upside come about. Not a chance in my mind.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

There's a reason he was available- this is a no lose situation- if he pans out, he'll be cheap, and if he doesn't- he gets cut for the minimum cap dollar.

(Sorry guys. Didn't start reading at the beginning of the thread!)

What I've read: Suffered a couple of concussions and decided to step away from the team, ostensibly to preserve himself for the NFL. Some saw it as quitting, while other saw it as a smart business move. He has a kid, and the belief is that he did it so he could go pro and provide for his family.

LOL TP! I've probably deleted 50 posts doing the same thing.

He better do better than the practice squad if he wants to earn for family

I think they raised it to 6K a week. I could live on that just fine at 22 years old.
