  • Your "Official" 2006 prediction thread!

Well fellow Eagle football fanatics it is that time of year again!

It's our 6th annual YOPEPT!!!!! --- YOPEPT?? HUH????

Your Official Philadelphia Eagles Prediction Thread!

You have seen the off season moves,,,,, the non moves,,,, and the sideways moves...............You have seen Training camp -------------You have seen the full 5 (Yikes)----- Fake, Phony, Sham, Pretend, Counterfeit, Practice, Make Believe Exhibitions.

You have seen the final cuts----((Or are they?))--------You know what players the team is made up of ((For the most part)) --------- No more stalling, get off the fence and get your butt in gear.................

You've read about a million articles ----- posted thousands of times!!!

Is this team a Super Bowl CON-tender or a Super Bowl PRE-tender???????

AND BTW----------We are all using the same rules!

None of this "Well it will be x as long as we don't have this injury" or "Well if they play well weeks 1 2 and 4 then they will X but if they play poorly, all bets are off" crap----

NO NO NO------------based on today, now, the minute you cast your vote------as the team stands then-----it's how you size them up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
((Actually you can make any changes you want up till-- noon on the 10th, whadda I care))

    This is it ---------

Take your best shot, make your best diagnosis, make your best prognostication, take your best guess, make your most educated pick, make your best prognosis, take your best crystal ball gaze-------------We don't care how or why (although you can tell us)!

What I would like from everyone is your regular season prediction, followed by whatever reasoning you used, then the post season((if you want to share that)) and also what reasoning you used.

    Have fun!!!!!!!!

Have at it-----BUT-----remember,,,,,,, everyone is entitled to have an opinion, optimist or pessimist it doesn't matter!!!!!!!!!!!! ((Everybody is entitled to make an ass of themselves))

I hope that the Mods will bump this up throughout the week or maybe I will just sticky it, as I will be away, "down the shore", for a couple of 3 weeks getting some additional R and R in.(You need a lot of rest when your old )

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////

    My best guess??????

Well my best guess is -------------- they go 12 and 4, \/ win the Div, get HFA, and in fact get to the SB by beating the Panthers at the Linc and ________________________ in the SB (( I don't ever predict past the NFCCG, just my own superstition)).

We have 9 pro bowlers, and the MVP.

Our 4 losses are to ................ER ........well...... I'm really not that good but----------------------- I think they are only 2 in the Div, 3 in the over all Conference and 4 total overall. (Maybe one Dullass and one VaGiants and maybe the Panthers and Indy))

My reasoning is that this team is embarrassed and hungry ((and very very talented))after last year. That Reid is embarrassed and hungry after last year. That they are healthier than they have been in several years and that they will be playing as a team unlike last years soap opera.

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

As we do every year, the fabulous prize package will be mailed from downtown Bel Air the day AFTER the Super Bowl.

I'm not sure last years winner has even returned from that fabulous around the world trip that we gave them...........................Well,,, maybe it had something to do with the trip starting in Iraq and then (by car) continuing on to Lebanon and then a full week of seeing the middle east close up and personal????

I was all set to go with 11-5.....but with a certain WR not making the club, pessimism has dropped me to a 10-6 record. I expect our defense to be far more stout this year, and we'll put up at least 10 more sacks than last year. The offense will be more balanced, and while not flashy, capable of moving the ball and helping us get a better TOP. I expect Brown and Stallworth to be our primaries, with Avant emerging as a solid slot receiver. LJ is gonna take off this season, and Westbrook is only going to miss 3 games, with Moats filling his role for a few weeks.

10-6, there it is. Mark it down.

Put me down for 13-3. We get swept by the Giants and lose one to the Redskins. HFA & 3-0 in the playoffs.

          See you in Miami.

12-4, return to the Super Bowl and win it.

My prediction should be no surprise, I have been posting it frequently this lsat week.

I am sticking with 12 -4 (losses to Colts, Bucs, and season splits with Redskins and Giants).

Eagles will win the NFC East, and will have HFA for the playoffs.

Will win the divisional match up , and then face the Bucs in the NFCCG.

SEASON: 11-5 - Reasons: 1. That's 1 better than the 10-6 I had before getting Stallworth. 2. It's 2 less than the 13-3 I've predicted for the last several years before the Skins, Girls, and Gnats decided to stop fighting one another for last place. 3. But most importantly, 11-5 was the number the sultry Latin brunette in last night's dream whispered in my ear just before she morphed into my homely 10th grade Latin teacher.

POST SEASON: 11-5 wins the NFC East and gets the Birds a bye in the Wild Card Week. We beat the winner of the NFC South, which will NOT be Carolina, at the Linc. (The NFC South turns out to be even more a war of attrition than the East)

I can't continue any further with my post-season predictions, as the homely teacher refused to speak in anything but classical Latin.

(Now where the hell did I stash my high school text books?)

12-4, division title, bye week. No HFA due to our head-to-head loss with the Panthers who will also have a 12-4 record.

Rematch of SuperBowl 39, with the Eagles winning 20-17. Pats have won all 3 SuperBowls by a field goal, so it seems fitting that they should lose by 3 points.

                      11-5

i think one of the three other nfc east teams is going to go kablooey and we sweep them

i think we split with the other two

i think they go 3-1 against the afc south.

i think they go 3-1 against the nfc south.

one more loss from the rest.

                      go birds.
Five straight losses, including a crucial one at Dallas on Christmas Day, send them out against Atlanta, needing the win, plus help. -Dr. Z, 8/31/06

I have been analyzing the schedule and waiting on this all week

I have the NFC East looking this way:

                        Eagles 11-5
                        Dallas 11-5
                        NYG 10-6
                        Wash 7-9 (underachievers as usual)

The Eagles and Cowboys will split, with the Eagles winning the division because they will be 4-2 in divisional games. The Cowboys and Giants go 3-3 in the division, with the Redskins getting swept by the Birds (the big difference). Eagles and Dallas both make the playoffs, with the Giants on the bubble.

The 11-5 record somehow gives the Eagles the first round bye. They win the NFC semifinal game, but lose on the road during the NFCC.

The key to this season will be the divisional games against Dallas and the divisional records. I think the Eagles and Dallas will be neck and neck to the final bell. Things could go either way.

The Eagles have a really nice team this year. But, the NYG are going to be tough. And, I think the hated Cowboys are set for a really good season (they still suck of course). I don't see the T.O. implosion coming any time soon

In the end, the lack of home field advantage will hurt in the NFCC. You can chalk that up to the toughness of the NFC East this year.
