Al has been trying ever since to come up with another 'spontaneous' classic quip. Is there any question but that Al was just waiting for an opportunity to somehow weave the Weinstein fiasco into a pithy comparison with the Giant's mess?
As someone who has more than a passing familiarity with remarks uttered in poor taste, I can suggest Al really rang the bell with this one.

Not the worst comment ever but certainly a boneheaded one. He wasn't being supportive of Weinstein but was making fun of him which probably resulted in some people thinking he was making light of what that asshole did. Unlike superass in carolina, I think Al has already issued an apology.

You're absolutely right...the comment itself is not so bad. IMO, it's the setting that makes it inappropriate. Again IMO, it does make light of this pig Weintein's chronically detestable behavior. My problem is that, unless the "quip" just occurred spontaneously without any previous consideration by Michaels, he should have known better.
And I should stipulate my own bias...I don't care for Al Michaels, so criticizing him comes easy to me.Last edited by tinopuno; 10-16-2017, 09:55 AM.

I also chuckled just a little. I'm not condoning what ol Harvey did-- no way in hell anyone could. But he's not the first piece of crap to do such things and my guess is he won't be the last. The names Clinton, Cosby, and Trump come to mind.

It was in bad taste but I thought it was funny.
You got me there! That's something my wife complains about all time... "Richard, really! Can't you at least try to be more arrogant and insensitive."
That and not not being nearly abusive enough when I shout obscenities at other drivers!
To be perfectly honest, I was watching the game only intermittently and didn't hear Michaels comment. I wouldn't have known about it had I not read Popper's post. But I've grown to dislike Michaels and, being a small minded, grouchy old fuck, I like finding excuses to criticize the short little cock sucker!

(What follows is only a partially serious). Women have been known to willingly use sex to gain career advancement in many fields (and often inside of buildings as well). Sometimes they even initiate "proceedings". The 'casting couch' has been a part of Hollywood tradition probably as long as movies have been made.
In many cases it was a quid pro quo deal...sex in return for advancement...the cost of doing business. It was a transaction and not necessarily an unpleasant one as long as: 1)undue pressure was not employed by the person in power to exploit the powerless person (usually, but not always female) and 2) the person initiating the transaction was not a physically repulsive troll.
What makes Harvey's use of his considerable power/influence to bed women worse than most similar situations is that he is such a grotesquely fat and ugly fucking man. Harvey is literally a pig who looks like he's still sweating when he steps out of a shower.
Speaking of showers, women who have been raped frequently talk about an obsessive need to shower almost in a ritual sense to cleanse themselves from the abhorrent act. In Harvey's case, the need to shower repeatedly after sex with him would not be symbolic or obsessive. It would be absolutely necessary to remove the sweat and stink of the pig man.
Beyond being a remarkably unattractive man, Harvey is... as we use to say when developing an apt clinical diagnosis...really fucked up. How many of us, who are neither homeless or coming off the 3rd can of Sterno for the day, insist on having a woman we just met watch us as we beat off and then tell her we'd like to see her again?

Eh .... I thought it was funny. The fact that Michaels had to apologize is symptomatic of a country that now admits girls into Boy Scouts. Political correctness run amok. Surprised Al wasn't fired for insensitivity.Russian reporters to Bobby Clarke: Can you imagine hockey without fights?
Robert Earle Clarke's response: Can you imagine vodka without alcohol?
