When the 49'ers picked him #1 overall 2 years ago, i thought it was a HUGE reach. And in his rookie season he didn't show hardly any flashes of being a franchise QB. But after watching him yesterday, he showed toughness, courage, and pretty good decision making. He's a lot better than i gave him credit for. Also has nice mobility.

I totally agree swing. I said it during the game thread that I saw a kid who could be a real stud in another 2-3 years. I think he's the best young QB in the league (current rookies excluded - we'll take a look at them in a year and see what they look like with a little experience and better understanding of the pro game.)Official Driver of the Eagles Bandwagon!!!

Me too. I thought he'd be worse than Heath Shuler but he's a nice player. His ability to avoid the rush and step out of trouble is going to make him a pro bowler before he hangs it up.Carson Wentz ERA

I was really impressed with Smith. He had a good feel in the pocket and he throws a real nice ball. I think he is better than the guy up in the New York that gets all the press. Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

I think the thing that impressed me the most about him was that for a 2nd year player he really didn't get rattled. Granted JJ didn't get too much pressure on him but even when they got to and they were down the kid stood tall and made the plays he could to try to bring them back. Plus he was the only Niners player I saw make a run at stoppig Patterson on the TD return. Where the hell was the rest of the team?Official Driver of the Eagles Bandwagon!!!

I was impressed by 2 things-- he didn't get rattled or flustered and continued to play and throw pretty well even down by a ton and having people in his face all day--- AND the difficulty we had in actually putting him on the ground. Quite a few giuys got hands on the guy but he didn't just fall down. He reminded me a bit of #5 having guys appearing to have him but he pops free, signs of a strong guy and good athlete.
Let me add that he the kinda guy we should be looking at in about 3 or 4 years to learn from 5.

He was very good at avoiding the sack but he still has some learnin' to do. The sack where he fumbled, the entire stadium saw that coming from 5 steps away. Also, he made some godawful passes. Still, you guys are right, he's made tremendous improvement since last year when I thought he was the next Tim Couch.
