That too. Add on to that that Ryan Moats was given a chance to use big play ability into the mix and really that was good news...oh wait...he's inactive so Reno Mahe can be sure handed on kickoffs.
Sweet.

Maybe but can you catch kickoffs and punts like him? Can you take a knee like him? Can you cheer like him? I mean really...can you CHEER LIKE RENO MAHE?
I didn't think so.

I have no problem having Reno in there yesterday. With the way the wind was blowing, it was smart having someone who you know can catch the ball.
Besides, they haven't been using Moats anyway (which is a mistake imo), so what's the difference?...And he wasn't impressive in returning KO's last week.
That said, when is Andy gonna start using this kid. I know we actually have to call running plays first, but he is a legit threat to break big runs. Even if he doesn't grasp the offense, or can't pick up blitzes, at least give him his own play package. He's a weapon being wasted on the offense....but again, we have to call running plays first.

There have been many a game where Mahe has not been impressive, at times downright pitiful. Why does Moats getting his first chance at stepping up qualify as sufficient reason to give up on him. I'm not saying he is definitely the solution. He is however an option and I'm all for trying out those few that remain to us in this godforsaken season.
Bringing "Whipping Boy" Mahe out to cast blame for yesterday's loss is kind of lame. I'm sure that Ryan Moat's presence would have had little effect on the outcome of yesterday's game - it may have increased our fumble total, but wouldn't have helped our cause.
The coaches watch Moats everyday in practice, they know what they have in him. He'll leave the ball on the ground about as often as he'll make a big play. I think they would just rather not live with the drama.

I'm not saying give up on him, I think though with the wind being a major factor, having a sure handed Mahe in there was a smarter decision for yesterdays game...Besides, I don't think it matters who is returning kickoffs. We've tried a few guys, no success. I'm beginning to think the problem is the guys blocking up front, or lack of it, more so than the guys running the kicks back.
As for punt returns...Mahe had 2 returns for 24 yards. 12 per return...Pretty solid job.
Mahe is at the bottom of the list when looking for someone to blame for yesterdays loss.

The thought of blaming Mahe for yesterday's loss never crossed my mind, never. I also had no problem with going with Mahe in such Windy conditions. I just don't want to give up on Moats and don't see his hands as any bigger a problem than Westbrooks.
