  • Hank Baskett vs. Billy McMullen [Final Analysis]

    Hank Baskett
    Rec: 22
    Yards: 464
    TD: 2

    Billy McMullen
    Rec: 23
    Yards: 307

    * Interesting. Kind of a wash. I'd still take Baskett.

Baskett clearly picked up THIS offense in THIS city faster in basically the same "#4 but can play their way into #3 or even #2 if injuries happen" situation. And is he younger to boot?

First off, Basket has shown a lot more in one season here than Wilbur showed in his entire time. Baskett looks like he can play in this league, and I never saw that from McMullen. Although McMullen did make a few plays last season, Baskett has shown big play ability that McMullen didn't show.

I think we should have been wearing a mask on this deal.

How come we didn't post this thread a week ago?

I think Billy Mac was just a late bloomer and not a real bright guy, took awhile. But I always liked his "potential"... but I like Hank also so I'm just as happy.

And Fresh makes a 'rare' good point.

            F U!!!!!!

The obvious answer to my question is, NOW is the end of the season. But Hank DID get 1/2 of his stats last week. He got to be the #1 receiver target and cleaned up! Good for him. If he got to be a regular starter and teams got a book on him, would he be nearly as successful? I doubt it. But I agree that Hank has already shown us more than McMullen ever did. I'm happy with the swap.

"The obvious answer to my question is, NOW is the end of the season."

But the real answer is that up till a week ago Billy Mac had better numbers than Hank did.

Change a scenery, sometimes, does help...

Good for both players. I think if you would pole every GM in the NFL 80% of them would take Baskett due to his upside at this point.
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

I don't think it's fair to compare McMullen's stats with Minnesota vs. Hank's in Philly. Here's the real comparison gauging their play in THIS offense:

                  Baskett '06 stats - 22-464, 2 TDs
                  McMullen's entire 3 year career in Philly - 22-294, 1 TD

I'd also like to add that McMullen had every opportunity in the world to step in and make some impact, given Minn's WR situation, whereas Baskett is a rookie behind an established group.

I don't think there's any comparison based on what I've seen out of the two of them. Childress needed someone on the roster that knew the WCO, and I think that's why he made the deal in the first place. Baskett looks like a much better prospect than McMullen ever did. Time will tell, but I really think we got the much better end of the deal.

For what it's worth I think one of Billy Mac's TD's was a fumble recovery in the end zone.

Actually, I was going to say that I think McMullen actually had THREE TD's, but I could be wrong. I don't think the 2 TD's listed under his receiving stats include the fumble recovery.

Baskett's game-changing, long TD catch in the first Dallas game trumps anything Billy McMullen ever did in Philly and anything he'll do for the rest of his career.

Because the season wasn't over yet.
