  • Just How Important Are Kickers ?

all the Kickers this weekend were all impressive. Jake just completed a pretty impressive season by hitting 30 of 33 FGA, that was only the 7th highest AVG in the league. These guys might start commanding big $$$ if they can be damn near perfect. Some of them are doing it from 53 yds and in. Imagine that it wasn't that long ago that 50 was everyones max. A team like Cleveland lost a few games because of their kicking situation. They win those games and they could have been a top 3 seed.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Yep the kicking game has always been somewhat important but with parity comes close games. Can’t count how many were won with last second kicks this year.
and I’m would add punting has evolved in its importance. Need an upgrade there next year
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
      Hope is not a strategy
      RIP

Funny thing about kickers, they really do run hot and cold. Look at Robbie Gould. He was out of football a few times over the years. Now he's one of the very best. What a ballsy guy too. He kicks fgs right over the other teams heads as they take the field. He talks more trash than the players do.

Kickers don't mean a thing, until they do. Nobody notices the guy, but when they hit a hot streak or cold streak, look out.
