• QB2 TRAINING CAMP BATTLE: Kenny Pickett, not Tanner McKee, took the QB2 reps. Pickett had a few good moments: he looked solid in 7-on-7 and he had a nice completion over the middle to Jacob Harris. But the bad outweighed the good. He did not get the ball out quickly; Pickett took a “sack” by holding too long against a blitz, allowing Andre’ Sam to get to him. Pickett threw behind crossing targets on at least two reps, leading to an Armani Rogers drop on one of them. Pickett had a red zone pass into the end zone tipped up into the air by James Bradberry. Pickett arguably threw the worst pass of training camp when he tried to check down to a wide open Will Shipley along the left sideline and sailed the pass way high and out of bounds. Pickett was not pressured on the play and he was staring Shipley down, so, it’s hard to understand how he could miss that badly. Maybe it had to do with the ball being wet? McKee did a much better job of making quick decisions and getting the ball out against the blitz. He threw to a spot to allow C.J. Uzomah to make a catch. McKee did throw a ball in the dirt to Austin Watkins, so, he wasn’t perfect.
• LINEBACKER TRAINING CAMP BATTLE: Zack Baun and Devin White were the first first-team linebackers once again. But the Eagles rotated their linebacker pairings with Nakobe Dean and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. coming in to work with the starters. Baun had a TFL on a screen pass to Barkley. Dean put a big pop on Will Shipley during a 7-on-7 period. That hit drew some “ooooh’s” from players and the fans in attendance.
• CORNERBACK TRAINING CAMP BATTLE: Isaiah Rodgers took the first first-team cornerback reps across from Darius Slay in 11-on-11. That’s now 10 days for Rodgers (nine in a row) and three for Kelee Ringo. Quinyon Mitchell was the first first-team nickel cornerback with Cooper DeJean lining up with the second-team. But then the Eagles showed a first-team look with DeJean in the slot and Mitchell and Ringo on the outside. That trio could conceivably be their top three guys next year and seasons beyond.
• WR3 TRAINING CAMP BATTLE: Britain Covey was first up with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Parris Campbell also rotated in.
• Some OL vs. DL 1-on-1 notes: Landon Dickerson did a nice job of shutting down Milton Williams. Williams had more success against Trevor Keegan by putting the rookie on skates to drive him far back. Cam Jurgens held up well against a Jordan Davis bull rush. Nolan Smith had a good rush that drew praise from his teammates (couldn’t see who it was against).
• Jalyx Hunt had a good practice. The rookie was able to generate some pressure off the edge and he also had tight coverage to help force a Pickett incompletion. Hunt was fired up about the latter rep, as was the rest of the defense.
• C.J. Uzomah had his best practice with two solid catches.
• Prior to practice, Nick Sirianni was asked about the team’s kickoff coverage struggles. Sirianni told reporters the team was specifically going to work on that issue early in practice, which they did with some special teams tackling drills.
