  • Eagles trade for Jahan Dotson

I think they really liked this kid coming out of college.

this likely means the commanders are going to trade for aiyuk
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Maybe, but Aiyuk is pretty fussy about where he wants to go. He already turned down NE. i think he wants to go to a winner.

Dotson really looked good in that highlight film, but then again everybody does.

He’s an upgrade at WR3 for sure.

what worries me is in division trades have never worked out. Hell, most division pickups haven’t. Which already worries me about Saquon

i know we got a 5th back. But if it was a 3rd, I would rather have Judon.

we’ll see. I hope he has a chip and it works out. He hasn’t done much yet and has had drop issues.

rooting for it to really work!

Are you guys fucking kidding me? This is freaking great. The birds now have the best starting 3 WRs in the entire NFL. Plus Barkley. Plus Hurts. Plus the O-line. I can’t believe this happened.

I like it. Protection for injury on outside, versatility, strong hands. Probably means we keep 6 at WR with Smith, Brown Dotson, Covey, Wilson and either Smith/Ngata with financial commitment being determining factor.

Howie doesn't hit every time. But, it's great having a GM that is always trying and usually comes out ahead in any deal.

              Good post Pliny.
I don’t think Ngata makes it. He has good summers but that is about it.

Dotson as a #1, no way. Dotson as your #3 is fucking crazy. If I remember correctly from his PSU days, he ran a ton of his passes off of motion. I'm thrilled with this move. to Howie.

Dotson is a good number 2 on most teams!

Apparently not on the Commanders. His stats were good his rookie year, then last year sounded more like Quez -- any press coverage would eliminate him, bad drops (both years), stuff like that. Unless they are trading for Aiyuk, their #2 recover is Olamide Zaccheaus. And they should be wanting weapons for a new QB to throw to. They must not have had good chemistry or something, unless (again) this was a step in trading for Aiyuk. Maybe it was just residual Snyder stank on him, but he sure was judged to have the talent in college (granted so was Reagor), so he should have a ton more upside than anyone we had. Ross and almost certainly Campbell would be off the roster now, I think. It was a glaring hole that needed fixing, and while a bit steep he's better than I was hoping for.

Ross in my mind wasn’t brought in to be a possession receiver, which is about what he looks like and Campbell has been in the training room all summer, in my mind they will both be gone. Dotson comes with 2-3 years of team control at about 4+ million a season

We pay Dotson about 1.5 this season and 2.5 next. A lot of his rookie deal was in the signing bonus which has already been paid. Even his 500K roster bonus this year has already been paid. The fifth year option, which we'd have to decide on after this season, is an entirely different matter. That will probably be around 16 or 17 million. May be too rich with two other WR1s. But it would give us two years to find a decent cheap WR3.

Don’t think Dotson has shown enough for a fifth year option but the birds have time to figure that out. With the talent on the Eagles he won’t be putting up big numbers but being on a team with this much offensive talent should give him the opportunity to get free and make plays when called on. That will be the key for him. If he makes plays when called on this move to the Eagles will be good for his career.

it doesn't make much sense for Wash to make such a stupid trade. He sounds great but if he has a history of drops I'll sour on him in a hurry if it continues.
