  • Brown...underrated? Hmmmmm........

    http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/ ... fcolumnist%<br%20/>3djoyner_kc%26id%3d2908843

Donte Stallworth (who left via free agency) and Kevin Curtis (who signed with the Eagles) have received most of the attention in Philadelphia this offseason, but if the 2006 metrics are any indication, the breakout receiver could be Brown. He ranked 12th in the league with a 9.6 YPA last year, putting him in the company of Reggie Wayne and Darrell Jackson.

He also ranked in the top 22 in bomb and deep pass YPA and had the sixth-highest medium pass YPA. Opposing defenses might be paying a lot of attention to Curtis this season, and Brown's metrics indicate he could make them pay for it.

Hey, can a mod give Fresh a clue about posting a url?

    Oh, Fresh is a mod...hmmm...

I still believe Brown is our #1 even if Curtis did get all that money...I agree that Brown will continue to emerge this season and make teams pay...

Reggie Brown plays the same position that TO played. Stallworth/Curtis play Pinky's spot. Reggie is going to be really special IMO. This is his 3rd season, which is often the breakout year for WRs.

Another think I like about Reggie is his ability to find the end zone, in that way he reminds me of a young Chris Carter minus the drug habit. I was possibly Pinkston's biggest fan but he (and Stallworth too) had a tendency to make big plays down field but not get into the end zone. When Reggie make a down field catch you just no he's getting into that end zone.

Nothing not to like about Brown. He's a quality WR.

Plus he's had a good attitude about wanting the be "The #1 WR" out there on the field since he got here. I'll need to stop bashing David Culley if he pans out.

You might be right, but even the blind squirrel.... Brown may be succeeding in spite of and not because of Culley.

Culley can make his bones w/ Baskett and Avant. By all accounts, both kids are hardworking kids who look to have skills. If they grow into what most think they can be, Culley should get some credit. If they don't, a new WR coach could be in order.

For some reason, I think it's more who we draft, than the WR coach. Maybe I'm wrong on that. But we've drafted these guys with 10 cent heads, McMullen, Mitchell, Lewis.... and I don't know if any WR coach would have turned them into true #1 or #2 receivers. Now, if one of these guys goes on to succeed elsewhere under someone elses tuteledge, maybe he is culpable.

I still think given a shot that McCants would have become productive here, dammit.

Yeah you're probably right Fresh. It's not as if Culley has taken some big time prospects and run them into the ground. Actually the more and more i look at it, he's probably done as well as could be expected.
