  • NFL Offensive Line Rankings

Again, done by FO and Fox Sports...

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7036746

Eagles are #7 which IMO is low...they mention Justice and Jean-Gilles, but state there have been work ethic doubts about them? Huh? From whom?

They also throw in an indirect shot at McNabb saying Thomas/Runyan have the challenging job of keeping McNabb upright (probably because they feel McNabb runs around too much).

Jackson gets good props, but they state Herremanns is the weak link...I thought he played pretty darn well last year.

    Re: NFL Offensive Line Rankings

Herremans is the weak link. Doesn't mean he didn't play well. Just means the other four guys are better or more accomplished. As for Justice and Jean-Gilles, work ethic and attitude concerns were part of the reason both slipped in the draft. As for McNabb, I don't know that he runs around too much, but he does run around a lot trying to make a play. That definitely makes protection more difficult than it is for, say, Peyton Manning.

I thought the Eagles were ranked a bit low, though #7 doesn't exactly constitute harsh disrespect. The Eagles' performance last year was clearly top 5 material, hopefully the young guys can continue to improve while the old guys continue to hang on in '07.

      Re: NFL Offensive Line Rankings

I don't disagree with anything they wrote but I do think the ranking low. The Vikings line had a real bad year last year yet they are ahead of the birds. Also none of the other teams ahead of them had mention of back ups as good as Justice and JG. That depth should be factored. I expect the birds OL to get lots and lots of props this year. Most media have to be slapped in the face with something before they start running with it as if they knew it all along.

As an aside, many bust on Andy & Co for bust draft picks, and that may have merit. But one I read mentioned is Bobbie Williams yet I see him starting on a pretty good line. Also Artis Hicks, another pretty good depth guy but not great starter IMO, has a starting gig.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

I saw that too NoDakIggle...it is a good point that Eagle reject OL can find starting jobs on other teams.

I agree IMK with your balanced view, I had forgotten they slipped in the draft, but since they have been Eagles I have not heard one word about lack of work ethic. I just thought it was a little bit of a cheap shot.

Well, I did think the line played better once McNabb went down. Maybe because they rallied to the cause, maybe becasue Garcia gets rid of the ball more quickly and works in the pocket a bit better. But regardless, i think our OL is top 3 in the league, 7 is low IMO.

            Re: NFL Offensive Line Rankings

Could be a tad low, but it's all just subjective crap, it'd not like they picked them 27th or something.

This line could be a GREAT line, if health holds up and Reid and MM stay true to a more balanced attack.

What impresses me to some extent is,what IMO is, the great depth that we have on the OL. I'm certainly not an expert on every teams OL, but it seems to me we have some real talent waiting in the wings. And that if we went say 10 deep in our evaluation list, that 7 ranking might be a tad low.
