8/24/07: Vikings have "discussed" Corey Simon

Per the Minneapolis Star-Tribune...
Coach Brad Childress confirmed Thursday that the Vikings have discussed free agent DT Corey Simon, but have no plans to bring him in for a visit.
Simon could be an option as a backup behind Kevin Williams, but doesn't fit the Vikings' need for a long-term nose tackle to replace Pat Williams.

(What the hell does THAT mean? They "discussed" him? Hell, WE have "discussed" him. Maybe Childress just said, "Wow, did that guy become a fat slob." -- YPCM)

Apparently the Titans had Simon in for a work out a couple days ago, as well. They did more than just "discuss" him, although I'm sure they said the same thing after he left - "What happened to that guy?"

Any team that doesn't at least discuss everyone who gets released is not doing their due diligence. You may have no need for the player but you don't know that if it isn't discussed. Whether or not that gets reported depends on the town you are in, the news that day, etc, etc. Obviously it was a slow news day in MN

That's was my first thought when I read the thread title. The Viking FO looking at a current pic of Simon and making "fat guy" jokes.

Yeah, my son and I also discussed him------------ we decided we couldn't afford to invite him over for dinner!!!!!!!!!!!!
