  • 9/20/07: TO compares himself to Belichick

The NFL fined Terrell Owens $7,500 for "using the ball as a prop" during a touchdown celebration in Week 2.
"I'm like [Bill] Belichick," Owens said. "I misinterpreted the rules. Man, next thing, we're going to be playing rugby. Can't even use the football for nothing anymore. Dude, it's like they're trying to find any way to take fun out of the game. I'm kind of limited right now in what I can do."

I heard that on the radio and cracked up.

I miss his ability on this team, but I hate him so because his childish behavior is still haunting this team. And it probably will until Donovan is gone.

TO's childishness prevented what would have been an all-time top 5 QB/WR tandem from reaching it's potential. Just thinking about the whole situation gets me steamin'

Yeah, if only McNabb had stepped up and addressed the situation before it as unrepairable. (There, now Philly Rabbit doesn't have to waste his time posting in this thread. Hahahahaha.)

Abso-fricken-lutely! I was just saying that to someone the other day...they couldve been another Young/Rice or Manning/Harrison, but....

As much as I hate what Owens did to this team and the anger I still hold towards him for it I think he has a point about the stupidity of the league right now. I thought the comment about Bellicheat was a joke intended to point out how stupid Bellicheat was to say that. Ah, screw them both!!

I agree with him about the celebrations, I never had a problem with it. Now taunting stuff should be curbed, but they are just taking things too far. Last week I also saw TO get flagged for "throwing the ball, delay of game", when all he really did was pitch the ball down on the ground after making a catch, and not even demonstratively, very nonchalant. I wish the league would focus on the cheaters, and let the players play and celebrate the game.

                I agree Fresh...

                Focus on the important things...

I differ slightly about TO in particular though...I agree with him the crack down on TD celebrations etc. is over the line, but to be fair it should be noted part of TO's antics has ALWAYS been to show others up and mock them which IMO is wrong and should be stopped...dancing on the star, doing Ray-Ray's dance etc. He has that rep and will continue to have it as long as he keeps doing those things and pushing the line.

Dallas is happy though that his line-pushing energy is being channeled in this direction and not towards the team itself...that will happen once they start losing again.
Eliminate distractions, create energy, fear nothing, and attack everything.

How about catching it, and shutting the fuck up?

It obviously can't be used in a sentence using proper English either. Damn that NFL!
