  • Winston Justice takes it like a man on Post Game Live

I'll give the guy credit for not running and hiding. He let Derrick Gunn interview him on the way out. He didn't make any excuses. He seemed embarrassed - as he should be - and just said that he hopes he can turn this into a learning experience, and that his technique had been broken down.....(Which begs the question, why didn't the coaching staff see that and pull him out of the game.) Gunn wasn't too hard on him, but asked him all the right questions. You have to give the guy points for talking, and aswering the quesitons as best that he could.

I didn't hear Justice's comments, but you've really got to feel for the kid. What the coaching staff allowed to happen was inexcusable. Failing to give the kid help, when he was obvioulsy overmatched against one of the game's better pass rushers, was unforgivable. It was the single biggest factor in tonight's loss! And God only knows how tonight will affect Justice's development.

Even the semi-senile Madden commented repeatedly that Justice HAD to be given some help!

WTF was the coaching staff thinking...assuming they were?

I cannot understand this at all (stated without the anger that I had while watching this kid get destroyed due to poor coaching).

I'm shocked that Juan Castillo didnt have this kid ready for action.

Despite the periodic jumps offsides, this makes you really appreciate the job Tra Thomas does and has done for YEARS here. No way Osi puts tht kind of ass whoopin' on a healthy Tra. But Tra's days are growing shorter, as are Runyan's, and we have no equal replacement there.

They wanted to be nice to an old friend and make Steve Spagnuolo look like a Defensive genius. That's about all I can come up with -- it's mind boogling that they could watch Justice get his ass handed to him over and over and over and do nothing about it!!! Seriously -- WTF were they thinking?????

I don't get it and Reid couldn't answer the question in the post-game. One thing they have never been able to do well is make in game adjustments and it was very apparent last night.

BTW - some weird feeling in me says that Winston Justice ends up being a very good left tackle. I just see 5 years down the road us saying, "Look at him now. Remember that night against Osi Umenyiora?! He has come so far". I tell you - I'm pulling for the guy.

I blame the coaching staff for all that happened to the offense last night. Terrible game plan and complete failure to adjust to what the Giants were doing to us.

                1. They failed to take advantage of the Giants' biggest defensive weakness - which is the linebackers' inability to cover ANYBODY on a pass route. Mitchell and Kiwanuka couldn't cover my grandmother!

                2. When they saw Justice flailing out there, they should have done something - keep a TE on his side, assign Buckhalter or Tapeh to help him out, etc. Or, they should have slid Herremanns out there and inserted Young, Cole or MJG into Guard.

                I'M PISSED!!!

I dunno. I was really expecting this guy to come out and really shine last night, like Artis Hicks in Miami a few years ago. That's how confident I usually am in Castillo.

The guy has the pedigree, but a game like that could mentally scar him for the rest of his career.

I like the way Justice handled all the questions after the game. He didn't sulk. Instead, he just said he needs to work harder and study more tape.

Justice will be a fine NFL player. He seems to have the right attitude.

I got no beef w/ Winston. He tried his best.

The coaching staff was awful last night, and it really pissed me off. Moreso than any game i can remember. Andy Reid should apologize to Winston Justice.

I can see him being a very good RT, but his left hand and left side aren't strong enough to play that side with his awkward footwork.

I could not agree more! The humiliation that AR allowed Justice to experience, without making any meaningful adjustments, would make sense only if it was AR's INTENTION to embarrass Justice, destroy his confidence, and get #5 killed as a bonus!

                            Just mind boggling!

As I said in another thread, how can this be pinned on Castillo? I find it hard to believe that they didn't work with him a TON all week know this was his first start ever. Does anyone really believe they didn't? I don't know why we're sometimes afraid to just say "The player sucked...plain and simple." Justice's technique was a freaking mess mid-way through the 2nd quarter. I could have probably knocked him over if I was wearing a Giants helmet. You can't blame that on an OL coach. Justice just flat out lost it. The coaching staff deserves to have their balls chopped off for not doing anything about it by mid-game, but I think it's kind of silly to think they didn't do plenty of preparation during the week.
