  • Too many Dallas Cowboys-related threads

I thought this was an Eagles board, not a Dallas Cowboys obession board. I mean, Dallas is having a good season and IMO is the favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this year, but were not talking about 1991-96 Cowboys, or even the 1966-1983 Cowboys, which had some great teams that were obnoxious and easy to hate. Except for the fact the Cowboys play in the Eagles' division (which I'd prefer to change, mainly to make the NFL make more sense geographically, but that's the topic for another thread), I really don't give a crap about this Cowboys team moreso than recent Dallas teams.

The combinations of the Cowboys, TO, and the Romo love-fest is just too much for many Eagles fans too take, especially with the Eagles own struggles.

      Chip,

Speaking only for myself, Dallas is ALWAYS "easy to hate". I have lived in the heart of Giants country for 30 plus years and have had to put up with their generally obnoxious (but often knowledgeable) fans for all that time, during which they won 2 Super Bowls. You might think the Gnats would be my most "hated" team. Not even close! If I listed ALL the reasons I "hate" Dallas, I'd still be typing when the sun rises tomorrow.

But I think maybe you answered your own implied question...Why the preoccupation by some on this board with Dallas? You see them as the favorite to represent the (very weak) NFC in the SB this year. And I grudgingly agree.

And this is happening in a year when our Birds, players and management, seem generally disorganized and non-competitive against even average opposition. The leader and soul of the defense, if he does see the field again, was clearly in decline when he got injured. And the the guy we were counting on to finally lead the team to the big prize is coming off a major knee injury, has so far this season been, AT BEST, inconsistent with his passing and decision making and may never again possess the ability to "create" on the run that made him so very dangerous when the Birds were dominating the NFC. And the Head Coach, perhaps understandably, seems less productively focused than in past years.

And, while faced with the very real prospect of a return to mediocrity for my team, I can't turn on the radio/TV or read a paper without witnessing the media fall all over itself in proclaiming: (1)an untested and inconsistent pretty boy, who's cockiness far outweighs his accomplishments, as the second coming of Farve; (2) a bumbling, chronic loser, door mat as a head coach, as being "just what the 'Boys needed"; and (3) that the POS psychopath, who openly did his level best to destroy the Birds, has suddenly "matured" and become a "team player".

I'm not claiming it's rational or healthy. It's certainly not in keeping with my professional training! Obsessed with Dallas? No!
But HATE Dallas on Sunday, or any day they play, and wish them nothing but the most painful humiliation? You bet! With all the passion I can muster!

Well said. Ad I can say thta yesterday was the first time in many years that I have openly rootedfor the Pats to destroy someone. Felt damned good. I realize the Dallas may be the best of the NFC, but also that the NFC is WAAAAAYYY behind the AFC elite, so, no championships for Dallas or ANYONE from teh NFC this season. Have to take your pleasures where you find them.

I haven't joined any of these threads until now.

I stand by my preseason comments: Dallas is highly overrated.

              agreed

when they have beaten 2 teams that are winless in 12 games this season. (STL and MIA)

And when the combined record of the 5 teams you beat is 6-22....you have to put in a little "hold off on proclaiming them as NFC Champs" in there after just 6 games

it will last another week as they will probably take care of MIN at home as well.
