        Overrated? By who???

He's rated by pretty much everyone, correctly and accuratley. A dangerous threat at wideout on the field, and a dangerous threat to his OWN team in the locker room. How's he overrated? Everyone knows exactly what TO is.

He's a great receiver but nothing in that article is untrue.

I don't know if overrated is the right word, but choke artist might fit.

I had never really thought of it because he is without a doubt one of the best receivers to ever play the game, but he does have a habit of disappearing in the playoffs. And he does have bad technique when catching the ball, which leads to a lot of drops.

Branch was named the game MVP for his 11 catches and 133 yards with no TDs. Those numbers are good enough to be named Super Bowl MVP, but 9 for 122 with 0 TDs is considered disappearing? Sorry Sal but this is just another "hate piece". Owens wouldn't be questioned if he kept his mouth shut. The fact that he comes off as an a-hole seems to be the justification for this article. Had the D found a way to keep Dillon out of the end zone and the Eagles won that game or even if Owens had simply not said anything about his own performance following the loss, then this story wouldn't have any legs at all. Owens played well enough for the team to win but they didn't and saying that he disappears in big games may be somewhat true but not in the case of the biggest game of his life. And one more thing for our "pal" Sal, F-you for making me defend that asshole!

              Re: Sal Pal On T.O.

I can't believe I'm defending this guy either......he led the league in drops in 2006 because he was playing with an injured hand. He didn't show up in last year's playoff game because he'd just come off a high ankle sprain. Other than that, the idea that Owens has only "won" so-and-so many playoff games makes even less sense than saying that DMac has only "won" so-and-so many. Last time I heard, it was a team game anyway.

All right, enough of defending him...yeah he runs his mouth, he's selfish and I'm glad he's not on the Eagles anymore. Like FRESH said, he's not overrated by anyone. Everyone's got a pretty clear idea of what he is, and what he isn't.

um, I think all of you bring up good points but you are forgetting one thing:

This is an excerpt from Sal's book that is being humped on ESPN. It is all to sell his book. Sal is going to sell copies without overreaching and hyperbole.

                  Re: Sal Pal On T.O.

Didn't TO come out and almost single-handedly squash the Giants in one of the greatest ever playoff comebacks a few years ago? It IS a team game, but I don't see TO as a guy who wilts under presure, in fact I think he thrives on it. Can't handle pressures in his personal life, but he doesn't go soft on the field. Bad luck, ill-timed injuries, etc, hey, it happens. But to suggest this guy is a choker is rather rediculous, IMO. The man wants the ball in his hand when it's all on the line. We've seen what a receiver wilting under pressure looks like (unfortunatley), and it wasn't TO.

But yeah, that perspective won't sell many books, I guess.

                    Re: Sal Pal On T.O.

It's really a shame the drama Owens causes a team. Short of his histrionics, I would still take him on the Eagles.

Imagine how Owens in Eagles Green & Silver might have altered the Birds fortunes? Hell, the last 2 drafts alone would have been different...

Weird side story. I'm leaving the Four Seasons on Saturday night and who holds the door open for me? Sal Pal & Tim McCarver!
