  • If you are Lurie . . .

Do you have a better chance to turn things around by keeping Reid or McNabb?

You could get a new head coach, a new Offensive coordinator, a new QB coach that actually coaches McNabb on fundamentals and this team could contend next year.

Look at how Favre was rejuvinated with McCarthy.

If you keep Reid, you have to deal with the Kolb being broken in and still have all of the game management issues.

    If I were Lurie:

    1. Fire Reid and Banner
    2. Hire Spagnuolo or McDaniels
    3. Hire a football guy to run the personnel department.
    4. Trade for whatever you can get for McNabb.
    5. Trade Westbrook.

    And then start fresh.

Banner is going nowhere. He and Jeff are tied for life.
As with many others, I think DMac can win with another coach if the team has a running game and defense. The question is can Andy win with his offensive philosophy. He may be able to but it would take a significant number of changes. Just replacing DMac isn't going to make his system work here. Fans aren't close enough to the inner circle to know which is easier to accomplish but my bet would be to make Andy GM and get a new coach.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

If Andy doesn't see the problem by now then I question his ability to find the coach and players needed who can solve the problem. The possibility of perpetuatig his own failures by extension, is too great a danger and would lead to a wasted "five year plan".

Keep Westbrook but use your 2 first rounders this year to pick:

            - RB
            - OL

And get that freaking running game fixed. Now.

Re: If you are Lurie . . .

We need a change in our offensive philosophy, no matter WHO is the QB here. Do I think Kolb is going to be better than McNabb? Ummm, no, not at this time. I'd prefer to keep Donovan.

If I'm Lurie, I call Reid in and sit him dawn and say "What do you see as our deficiencies, and what do you propose to do to fix it".

Reid won't be able to use the typical canned responses with Lurie that he does with the media. If I am Lurie, and I am not satisfied with Reid's answers, or don't think Reid HAS any answers, I let him GO! And I go shopping for another coach, and a seperate GM.

First things first Lurie needs to clean house from Heckert to Reid down. Bring in a new GM who should HIRE the next coach. After that let them descide who the QB should be. Personally I think that Spagnolo woudl be a great choice.

I hope the bastard cashes in and sells the team to somebody who wants to win. There will be little change if he continues owning this team.

I agree with this, but it will not happen. And, if they do clean house in the FO, we are probably looking at Banner and Roseman controlling player personnel, and that is a scary thought.

Re: If you are Lurie . . .

If I were Lurie, I would:

                      1.) Fire Reid.

2.) Hire an offensive coordinator as head coach. We don't need Spags. We need Kevin Gilbride. The problems with our team are mainly on offense. We need someone who can quickly build an effective offense.

3.) Keep McNabb. What has happened here is not his fault. He just needs a better supporting cast, and an offensive system that makes sense.

4.) Keep Heckert. If you look at our drafts, he has done a great job in the later rounds. We don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. We want to keep people of value within the organization.

5.) Keep JJ. Our defense is good enough for us to win. Unfortunately, it spends too much time on the field because our offense struggles.
We have a nice nucleus of good, young players.

6.) Rebuild our offensive line through the draft and free agency, and draft a running back who runs with some authority.

Donnie Mac is gone fellas. He's had enough of Philly. He looks like he's even kind of fed up with football. Either way, I don't see him here next year. Get ready for a decade of lousy football.

Get rid of Joe Banner and Andy Reid. Joe Banner is a festering problem. He keeps reaching for more power, including power over personnel. This can't end well.

I'm fine with keeping McNabb in a system that supports him. i doubt he's interested in sticking around.

This is what I'm not sure the average fan has any concept of. Everyone's been screaming for a change, but people have no idea what they are really wishing for. Things aren't suddenly going to get better. The next two years AT LEAST are going to be rebuilding. Prepare for some (more) dark times ahead.
