  • Baltimore 33, Cowgirls 24!!!!!!!!

If I hadn't seen it, I would never have believed it!!!!

Good job by the Baltimore pass blocking and Joe Flacco in the second half......after allowing 4 sacks in the 1st half, they only gave up 1 in the second half....and props to rookie Flacco for going 17 for 25 with no picks when he did get the ball away!

What happened to the Cowboys' offense?? Romo was more like Goober Pyle until midway through the 4th quarter, especially on his second pick. Ed Reed could've fair caught that ball, and that INT led to an important FG before halftime.

How about Ken Hamlin failing to come down with that fumble that was in his breadbasket, and then the Ravens following up that play with a fake FG to get a 1st down, and then, a TD??

How about not one, but two 70+ yard TD runs, including the longest TD run by an opposing player in Texas Stadium history, which was done by a converted FB??

Props to the Ravens for making the Cowboys look bad, but really, some blame has to go to the Cowboys here too. This was a huge, huge game, and they committed 9 penalties (including a few just crucial ones), and on a number of plays their focus didn't seem to be there, IMO.

Also, props to the Ravens for still bringing a ton of heat even late in the game, instead of just using a few linemen and keeping everyone back.......

How about the Cowboys having the most consecutive seasons with losing records in November-December, since the Saints of the 1960's and 70's?

Don't want to wish an injury on anybody, but I hope Witten's injury is worse than they think and he's banged up for next week.........

Thanks Ravens, now it's up to us to make the most of your help! And, to Brad Childress....give us a hand, dude!

Excellent job of coaching by Harbaugh and Co. They made a couple of great calls in that game. I hope JJ takes a lesson from Ryan about bringing pressure late in the game. It was nice to see Phillips and Co. outcoached tonight.

Last game in Texas Stadium, a loss.

            Good.

yeah, it was positive to see the cowboys get beaten
soundly. the cowboys offense really misses #24 barber
and whitten's injury looked like the right ankle - he had
a hard time getting off the field after #36 hit him after
the TD catch. looks like romo's favorite receiver will be
hurting for the 28-dec game, also the end of the line for
the cowboys this season as well as their HC philips.

Balt was defintely after it in this game while the girls played like they would win because they deserve it. Ha Ha. You lose.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

Going to pile some things on...........so if Jerrah really did pull a few strings to schedule the "winnable" Ravens game as the last one at Texas Stadium, I wonder when Suggs and the Ravens got wind of it?

                  From ESPN's Matt Moseley:
IRVING, Texas -- In a surreal scene that bordered on the absurd, the 2008 Cowboys crossed paths with men such as Drew Pearson, Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly and Michael Irvin on their way to the losing locker room Saturday night. It's too bad players synonymous with greatness were forced to be associated with a team that once again gagged when the stakes were at their highest.

Following a 33-24 loss to the Ravens, America's Team on Paper will have to try to back its way into the playoffs. And the one man offering alibis on the final regular-season night at Texas Stadium happens to own the club.

                  ...............

It's too bad the Cowboys couldn't figure things out in the final game at Texas Stadium -- especially since Jones apparently petitioned the league for the Cowboys to play the Ravens because it once looked like a winnable game. Jones sort of confirmed that theory to me after the game, but I couldn't tell whether he was joking. It didn't matter to the Ravens.

"We had a lot of politics that really made this game more fun," said Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs. They personally recommended us as their homecoming opponent. We fed off it the whole game. We hope they enjoy their ceremony tonight, but I guess we were the dynamite."

From Jennifer Floyd Engel of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (she doesn't hold back in her articles!):

Cupcakes for everyone! Wade Phillips ["Coach Cupcake"] will be back next season!

How did assembled Cowboy legends feel about Saturday’s loss? &*%& and ^&*(%.
Oh my, did I hear a few naughty words.

As players from Staubach to Emmitt waited to file onto the field for Texas Stadium tributes late Saturday, obvious frustration spilled from generations of Cowboy greats.
They were stunned by the awful play calling, by the poor execution by the offense, by the failure to finish by the defense, by the lack of tackling, by the inability to finish.

These aren’t kneejerk fans. They have been there. They know how hard it is to get over the hump, to finally win but eventually almost all of them found a way. And now they are watching what they all know to be a supremely talented team gag again and again and again.

Emmitt best summarized this frustration when he said: “This is sickening.”

Let me provide a Jerry asterisk.
I believe Jerry believes he plans to bring Coach Wade back for next season, no matter what happens in Philly, no matter what happens with playoffs, no matter what.

I also believe he believed Dave Campo was coming back when he gave him a vote a confidence in late November in 2002. He liked Dave. He didn’t want to change. He didn’t want to admit a mistake.

All of this changed after a particularly ugly loss to San Fran, a game Dallas blew late that left Owner Jones dropping f-bombs in the locker rooms, like 25 or so. A couple of days later he boarded a plane for New Jersey where he began courting Big Bill [Parcells].

I’m not saying this happens again, just that hope exists for a change.

Start rooting for The Fighting Norvs and The Fighting Adrian Petersons.
Wins by San Diego and Minnesota have a chance to save this Cowboy season, as well as Coach Wade’s butt.

Of course, Dallas has to beat Philly in Philly.

And does anybody have faith in that happening?

Now let's start by taking care of the Redskins..........

                      Piling it on some more.....

Even the Cowboys' past couldn't save this one

                      By Gil LeBreton

                      ...........

The visiting Baltimore Ravens and their rookie quarterback, Joe Flacco, never had a chance — or so we roundly presumed.

The Ravens were on hand to help close one of the NFL's historic palaces Saturday night. They closed it, all right — closed it like a coffin lid.

Baltimore 33, Cowboys 24 was not the way the football gods might have imagined Texas Stadium’s final night.

But the Ravens deserve the credit. Seldom has so much football karma been stacked against an NFL visitor on a single night.

It was the Cowboys, though, who ended up having the struggling quarterback and the gambling defense and hearing the crowd’s boos.

Bruised and battered six days ago against the Giants, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo wasn’t expected to be his usual lithe and elusive self. But for most of the night, his struggles went far beyond a sore back. Through three quarters, when the outcome was still very much in doubt, Romo had completed 11 of 22 passes for only 72 yards. He had passed for no touchdowns but had thrown two interceptions.

His receivers, to be sure, weren’t much help. By halftime, Romo had completed only one pass to a wide receiver. Terrell Owens had dropped one sure completion and let his concentration lapse on another.

It was a night when Romo needed the help, frankly, since he wasn’t playing well enough to provide it himself.

And with the offense struggling, down eventually came the Cowboys’ defense — down in spectacular fashion.

Gambling with run blitzes after Baltimore had seized the lead, the Cowboys got torched for fourth-quarter touchdown runs of 77 (Willis McGahee) and 82 yards (Le’Ron McClain).

"It’s demoralizing," said Cowboys safety Keith Davis. No, it was worse than that.

On what was supposed to be a festive night, this bunch of fragile underachievers embarrassed the franchise.

"They just sliced us up," linebacker Zach Thomas said. "I just hate to go out in Texas Stadium like this." At least Thomas wasn’t like some of the 63,800 who had to watch — the ones who paid $500 to $1,000 a ticket.

Dozens of former Cowboy greats were in attendance for the stadium’s closing festivities. Four decades of Cowboys teams have heard this stadium’s cheers. But in this final game, the lingering sound was the boos. Boos for Romo’s night-long struggles. Boos when Owens couldn’t wrap his hands around the ball. Boos, in the end, when the tired defense was forced to resort to gambling.

"It’s like we had homefield advantage, and Baltimore took it," Jones said.

Exactly 180 of Romo’s 252 yards came in the fourth quarter. Rookie Flacco, meanwhile, stood tall in the pocket, threw no interceptions, shook off five sacks, and led his team on seven scoring drives.

That wasn’t supposed to happen, if you believed in NFL karma. On a night when the ghosts of the Cowboys’ glorious past seemed to be everywhere, the Ravens were merely expected to be accommodating guests.

True, even coach Tom Landry’s best teams had days and nights such as this. True, even the great Roger Staubach threw an untimely interception or two.

But most of those Cowboys also have Super Bowl trophies in their pasts.
This bunch can’t even win a playoff game. Or even get to the playoffs, if next week’s fortunes don’t get in line.

The postgame ceremony Saturday was supposed to be a rousing celebration of all the memorable moments that Texas Stadium has hosted. But as the night’s temperatures fell and the Cowboys bowed in submission, the stadium seats began to empty, so that less than half of the 63,800 were on hand to watch the great football palace close.

Close like a coffin lid, I meant.

Oh and by the way, the cowboys quit. did anyone see newman not even attempt to tackle leron mcclain.

also, did anyone see lorenzo neal absolutely bury bradie james on mcclains run.

all 3 of our LBs would have met neal in the hole and limited the damage. james got spun around and then whiffed on the attempted tackle. what a wuss.
