Excellent perspective from all, gents. Everything said here is true. Many people forget to keep it all in perspective. I think that the Bible says that "gray hair is a crown of wisdom." Gray hair or no, this is wisdom.

My answer to "howya do'in" at the Y is "another day, another body part".

We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Thanks for posting that Chris. That was a fantastic tribute and even someone who didn't know Gywnn as a plyer can understand what a fantastic man and true role model he was. I wish more players were like him - off the field! His on the field stuff speaks for itself, but the man off the field should be even more admired and recognized. Baseball and sports in general lost one of the best....

Thanks Chris. I know Gwynn was a hell of a guy, but that was quite a gesture by Oberman too. Another one of the good guys gone.......crap.

Tony Jr. just returned to the Phils. In his first AB, the few thousand Phils fans still in attendance gave him a standing O. The Umpire stepped out and cleaned the plate and the Marlins catcher walked out to the mound to allow Tony to have his moment. Pretty cool sign of respect by all involved.

Before his death, I had had the distinct impression that Tony Gwynn was a really good person. Since then, I've done a little research and a lot of listening to those who knew him. The Youtube piece you posted (Thanks!) reinforced my sense that while Tony Gwynn was a great HOF player, he was probably an even better person.

I can never wrap my mind around really good people being taken so young.
