Yeah, Nick was no big loss. But I am sure that we could have missed the playoffs and lost games with him, instead of Bradford. And our 2nd rounder would come in handy right now.

Of course, with the lack of confidence that I have in our personnel group, we'd have wasted that pick on a Marcus smith or something. (Howies pick, remember?)

You try not to dwell in the past but when you think about it:

DJax and Maclin for Miles Austin Josh Huff, Jordan Matthews and Aggie
Shady for Murray, Mathews and Alonso
Foles for Free Agent Bradford and 2nd round pick
Mathis and Herramans for two turnstiles
      Trent Cole for ?????

      Just brutal

Lets also not forget they are going to need to add a fullback in order to run the WCO.
Given the lack of money at WR, they might be able to deal with the high numbers at RB for a year (and definitely can if we go young at QB). Tagging Bradford would make things a lot tighter; signing him to a longer-term deal would likely mean a lower cap figure in year 1 and a bit less cap pressure.

Sproles is definitely a potential cap casualty though, even though he deserves that money more than Murray, but it's going to depend on how much the team wants to sign in free agency (Bradford or other high-profile guys). If it means retaining Walter Thurmond, do you let Sproles go? However, the figure for Sproles is his 3.5 million salary, not 5 (cap figure is 4.5 due to prorated signing bonus but that is a cap hit regardless).

I'd let Thurmond walk if that meant that I could get Logan under contract. With all these huge contracts being thrown around you would have thought we won the SB. WTF is going on?

As I said I like Sproles as well as anyone on the team. I just don't see how you pay him along with the others. If you can keep him and let Mathews go I am okay. Ultimately I would like to see Murray go but I just can't see that happening. Barner can be your #3.
As an aside I agree that Murray can't be as bad next year as he was this year
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
            Hope is not a strategy
            RIP

This kinda tells you where we stand with Murray. Oh vey, ugly.

Indeed. Yet another huge miscalculation by Chip that is killing them.

But, if he stays, and they use him correctly, and he starts performing better, things might improve. Gotta hope for the best here, I guess.

                  PFT weighs in:

Running back DeMarco Murray’s first year with the Eagles wasn’t a great one for him or for the team and his relationship with former coach Chip Kelly was under the microscope for much of the year because of Murray’s steep drop in playing time from his final year with the Cowboys.

Kelly is with the 49ers now and Murray’s future with the Eagles was the subject of a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Media on Thursday. Rapoport reported that Murray has doubts about his future with the team and that he appears “headed for a stare-down” with the Eagles on that front.

Murray was a guest on Thursday’s PFT Live and Mike Florio asked him about the report. Murray said he isn’t looking to move on from the team.

“No. I’m signed there for the next four years. I don’t know where that story is coming from,” Murray said. “It’s a little crazy. Every week I feel like there’s something new. It’s a little weird. I can’t worry about what people are saying. I’ll just continue to work hard. I’m signed for four years and I’m committed.”

Murray admitted it was “hard to get comfortable” in Kelly’s scheme, but added that the perception of problems with the coach were “blown out of proportion” over the course of the season. Murray said he’s spoken to new Eagles coach Doug Pederson and expects a “more conventional” offensive scheme in 2016.

Murray’s contract would make a trade or release difficult from a cap perspective, even if former teammate Dez Bryant wants to get Murray back in Dallas for another spin with the Cowboys.

I can see why these guys get pissed off over this kind of stuff. It's one thing to speculate, but to state it as fact is pure BS. It's true Murray was probably the worst rb that we had last year, but he lead the league in rushing the year before. It's very clear that he wasn't a good fit for Chip's offense, but that's history. I saw no lack of effort on his part. There is no choice but for both sides to live with the contract. None. Writing stupid stories about the situation sure doesn't help. He's a decent NFL back that is overpaid. Live with it. So is Maxwell. So is Celek if you ask me too. Writing Horseshit like this doesn't help the situation. You probably should be fired for writing crap like this. Get off your ass and get a real story. If you can't do that then get a job that you can do and hang around places like this where you can speculate all that you want AND IT DOESN'T HURT ANYBODY!ASSHOLE!

Draft OL and keep Murray for a year to see what he has left in tank. Give him a FB too while you at it.

See if he can do anything in a traditional offense.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I really don't think they have any choice but that. He can play. He just needs to run downhill, instead of running out of the shotgun formation all the time.

Mathews may as well go . He can't stay on the field, and if you want to get the most out of Murray, it seems the recipe for success is defense and just keep feeding him the ball in a conventional O. Barner is good enough to take the extra 5 -8 touches.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Exactly. I wonder where in the offseason with no plays run with no offense even designed by Pederson yet do you find that The Eagles and Murray are headed for a stare down. Its just lazy journalism and speculation on one writer's part. Just dumb!

I don't get the stare down part. But I can see from the piece the monetary bing the Eagles are in, no matter what avenue they try. Keep, cut, trade. All have a cost. I wasn't concerned about anyone's feelings. That's just Writers trying to juice up a basic story.
