If you HAVE to make a decision right now about Nick Foles' future with the Eagles, what do you do? Resign him? Look for another QB and use Sanchez for the next year or two until the new kid is ready? Just how confident are you in Foles? It's time to put Lurie's money where your mouth is.....

I'd be interested to hear the opinions here as well.
I like Nick. I like his character and personality. He's a likeable kid. But,....
If you just look at our last game, it is hard to get a good figure on what Nick is, or ever will be. What I see is a QB who , when he has a clean pocket(and time to knit a quilt), can be very comfortable, maintain good footing and deliver balls on time and accurately. He has put some balls in tight windows and well placed.
While in the same game, in a few instances where Nick faced a rush, he made some terrible throws that could have resulted in four INTs, and did result in two. Sometimes it seems that his arm is not strong enough to compensate for when he can't set his feet. He is slow as molasses in January. He makes some dumb decisions....but he IS young yet.
Bottom line, I still don't know. And because of that, I couldn't make a huge financial investment in nick at this time. I would certainly look to extend him. I want him around, as the starter or eventual backup. Perhaps an incentive laden contract where if he is the starter for so many games, he makes X$..... But no way to I drop 100 mil on this kid.
Now, what about Barkley.... LOL!http://shop.cafepress.com/content/global/img/spacer.gifOK, let's try this again...

I voted to resign him, but fortunately we don' have to do that right now. If push came to shove you have to because he's so schooled in the offense. How much he gets paid will be decided upon how well he does the rest of the season. He's certainly not in the franchise QB range right now."Hey Giants, who's your Daddy?"

I also said to resign him but I share Fresh's concerns. I really like him and think that with experience and coaching he can be a top 10 QB in the league. Will he ever become Peyton Manning? Highly doubtful but he does have the brains to be able to make good decisions and change plays at the line. That said, I hate his deep ball and his running ability - or lack of ability as it were!
The bottom line for me is that it's just too soon to know what we have here. But since this is the last year of his contract we have to do something. If I had to decide right now I'd sign him to 5 years, $60 million guaranteed with incentives to bring it higher if he performs well. If he wants more than that or more guaranteed I think I have to look for someone else. Hate to say it but I'm just not certain at this point. I think this is where the coaches evaluations are really going to be needed. Nick is a FA at the end of the year so I guess we'll find out exactly what Chip and Musgrave really think about him and his abilities.Official Driver of the Eagles Bandwagon!!!

I'd resign him, but I'd channel Joe Banner and get him on da cheap. He hasn't shown himself to be a hundred million dollar man, by any means. Teams aren't going to line up to make him one either. So, you give him some financial security, and in return, he takes a deal that protects the club.
If he plays like a hundred million dollar man, you got yourself a deal, and if not, you don't get killed financially. That's the only kind of deal I'd make right now.

Man times are tough. Does he have flaws-probably but he also makes some great throws and decisions. Look at his record. Does he have room to grow or has he hit his ceiling? Only the coaches can tell you that but my guess is you sign him and look to draft someone if you think he has hit his ceiling. Sort out the wash later. Sanchez looked good in some preseason games but let's not project him to be anything just yet.
I'd add that I don't think they will do anything until they see the rest of the year play outWait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy

I would fall into the resign category and Like Juk’s approach. I firmly believe in the bird in hand approach.Sanchez can manage this offense, but has not played in a real game for some time and I would not put a season of faith in that shoulder.Trying to find an NFL QB with the same skill level as Nick is tough.Finding one better is even tougher. He is young, has shown growth and shown ability. There is no future QB behind him and, when protected, he has shown what he can do.Along those lines, there really are only a few NFL QB’s that have true dual skillset that includes being able to make the right pass on time and on target.I think Chip likes what is between Noles ears more than anything else.He is a smart kid with his head on straight that appears to not visually fluctuate emotionally.Chip has that same characteristic. You really don’t see him yelling and running up and down the sidelines.

Nick's in his first full year at the helm and is showing himself to be more capable then other 1st rounders. I'd go with bird in the hand and re-sign him but he in no way deserves a top ten contract. Make him a nice offer that makes him rich, just not superstar money. Save the cash and continue to build depth on the team (e.g. LB and OL)

Not to complicate matters but I don't resign him and I don't let him walk. There should be a third option. What many might not realize is that Nick doesn't walk after this year. It's just the opportune time to resign him long term but if he stays up and down, why the hell not let him play out the final year of his contract next season? Then if he sets the world on fire, either re-sign him or place the franchise tag on him. Franchise tag is $16MM this season. That's a lot of $ but it's worth it to keep it a short term investment. I'm sure there is a cap friendly long term deal to be struck. Based on the question though, I wouldn't resign him.

Right here, right now? We are 5-1. Anyone who wants to swap out Foles for another QB is foolish. You never know if a QB prospect is going to develop. That is why players like Tim Couch, Akili Smith, and (yes, possibly) Robert Griffin III get drafted so high and never fulfill their promise. There are at least 12 other teams in the league that would love to have Foles as their QB. We should be grateful we have him."Nobody in football should be called a genius. The way the rookie contracts work, it wouldn't be a bad idea to try to work in a new 3rd or 4th round QB every 4 years. Look at how much money the Seahawks have to spend on the all their other players because Wilson is making 600,000 a year.
I'd be fine with letting Foles walk and drafting a guy like Mariota.Canada's #1 Eagles fan.
