Herniated disks in back, C6-C7. Could be a long term injury
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

C6-7 is neck. I think that's the same as what Peyton had when he missed a year.

Supposedly he hurt it on the 3rd down play and stayed in and ran the 4th down play

        will need surgery

I hate it for him. That type of injury sticks with you and may end his career. Not many RB's will survive when they can't lower their head. I wish him well.

Well some people here wanted him gone, they may have gotten their wish.

We all knew injury was this guy's biggest problem, hope he can come back but we can survive without him.

My initial feeling was here we go again with him, but I think a neck injury due to effort can't really be classified in the same way. I think all of us weren't surprised to hear he got hurt again, but somehow this one seems different.

I don't think anybody wished he were gone, we just questioned his being the feature back because of his history with injury and ball security at his salary.

don't really want him gone, he's a good back, I would like to see him at a reduced price. He may never play again though so his salary may not be an issue. I wouldn't wish a broken back or neck on anyone not on the Cowboys, Redskins or Giants

He won't be missed and it's why you don't spend money on RBs.

Wish him well but we can do better.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Herniated disks are career enders. I had to hang up my rec league hockey skates because of them

Honestly, I feel really terrible for Ryan. I have never seen anyone completely recover from herniated disks.

I had spinal chord compression from a herniated disc and have to had a c5-6 discectomy and fusion in '07. I can play basketball still but I lost some muscle due to nerve damage.

I have something like this now, C5. Haven't had it worked on yet but I know I should. Every now and then it bothers me with aching. Did you get it fixed straightaway, or did you let it go until it bothered you too much

The higher up the easier they are to fix. I think that he'll have a full recovery but he would be crazy to play football again. Then again it's tough for young guys to stop playing again when they're feeling good.
