Not sure if they showed it on TV or not, but people in the stadium were not particularly pleased with how things ended. There was a fairly large group who crowded around the Eagles entrance tunnel and were openly cursing at Andy and some of the players. There was also a pretty large group booing. This probably isn't a surprise but I thought I would pass it along. Dallas is the next home game. Might be pretty ugly if it starts out slowly. That's a Sunday night game and you know that most tailgaters start at 8am in the parking lots no matter what time kickoff is!

Re: Just back from the Linc
We do specialize in kicking people when they are down...understandable in the emotion of the moment etc., but still not helpful to a team that needs SUPPORT from its fans to turn this around. Today was a brutal loss and the team is struggling, but calling for heads, booing, cursing players/coaches out etc. only contributes to more struggles IMO...for once I would LOVE to see our fans cheer and encourage the team when they are down...that last drive the crowd was DEAD SILENT...cheer for your team!!! If you are too buzzed or angry or bitter, go home for all I care...you can yell your racial insults there just as well as at the stadium.Eliminate distractions, create energy, fear nothing, and attack everything.

Seriously, what do you expect? Do something to make the fans cheer, and they WILL cheer.http://shop.cafepress.com/content/global/img/spacer.gifOK, let's try this again...

Re: Just back from the Linc
Fresh - right on, but I'd phrase it a little differently.
Don't shit the bed on Special Teams against the Pack, and don't shit the bed against the Bears on the last drive of the game, and we are now a 4-2 team instead of a 2-4 team.
And I think that's why the fans are so pissed off (I know why I am) - it's because we've collectively shat two games into the crapper because of poor schemes (Bears and Giants game) and bad personnel planning (Packers games).
The team is better than the record - and underachievers never prosper in this town.

Re: Just back from the Linc
Agreed, Gut. I think everyone has higher expectations for this group. And we know bad passes, bad drops, and bad defense when we see it. Not to mention playcalling. Do I think this is a SB caliber team? No. But I think it's a team that should handily dispatch the likes of the Bears and Jets. Frustrating as hell!http://shop.cafepress.com/content/global/img/spacer.gifOK, let's try this again...

Re: Just back from the Linc
I'm shocked to hear that the stadium sounded quiet on the last drive. At the beginning when the Bears started at the 3 everyone was screaming their heads off and creating a tough end zone to work out of. I guess it got quiet towards the end as they drove down with seemingly very little effort. Its all kind of a blur to me at this point, and I was sober.Long Live Section 736

Re: Just back from the Linc
It was quiet from about the second 1st down onward...the commentators discussed it when the Bears were around mid-field.
It was really inexplicable IMO. McNabb leads the offense down the field and scores a TD, punching it in on a nice balanced throw to Schobel (nearly identical play as the missed TD earlier). Then the defense gets the ball back pretty quickly and McNabb and the O get several 1st downs to chew clock and force the Bears to use their last time outs. Rocca makes a beautiful punt out of bounds at the 3 yd line. Everyone knows if they execute and play smart, the game is over. Unfortunately, the Bears get 2 first downs and the fans shut up and the players go into brain lock, bad play after bad play.
I understand the "do something worth cheering and I'll cheer" angle, but IMO it is a poor excuse. You should be cheering non-stop until the clock runs out and especially when your defense needs your support. That is when they NEED you most. If you are expecting the worst and want to be able to say "I knew that was going to happen" at the end, I think that is pathetic. Go down swinging hard IMO and, if your team loses, then be quiet, hug your family, walk to the car and drive safely home. You'll know you held up your end of the bargain at least.Eliminate distractions, create energy, fear nothing, and attack everything.

Re: Just back from the Linc
It got quiet as the Bears were driving down the field because we could all see it coming. The guy in front of me was saying "only the Eagles", and it was pretty much how we all felt. They were dropping Kearse back into the "joker" position and got no pressure on the QB. You know what they say about the "prevent defense", it prevents you from winning, and it did again.I gaze into the doorway of temptation's angry flame

Soft zone, prevent defense or whatever. There is nothing I hate more than watching my team blow a game from trying to avoid giving up the big play. They were playing not to lose, instead of playing to win.
Every damn fan in the stadium probably saw what was happening and was too shocked to believe it. My blood pressure raises 20 points just thinking about it

Re: Just back from the Linc
One more thing......
If I ever got a chance to meet Andy or JJ, I would thank them for all the good years they have given us. Then, I would ask them why in the world they would ever go to a prevent defense in that situation. "Playing the odds" is old news. I bet newer research on the subject would beg to differ.
I just want to understand the decision there. How many times do teams have to get beat that way, before they change the strategy.
