Maybe Murray is Gore's replacement. They are similiar runners and Gore was cheaper. once that fell through - no one has any idea who they were talking to or keeping an eye on - Wed night he's visiting and Thurs he signed and the league year opened Tues.

If you want to believe Chip didn't have a plan and this was all Sam, go ahead, i can't dispute that.

So, as of now it appears as if Sam Bradford will be our starting QB, and Murray will be our starting RB.

Anyone in the entire freaking universe see that one coming???

12, I think Chip played his card with Matthews. That's why I question Murray.... if they were "after" Murray--- we might have seen him here long before last night. Just IMHO.

True. It appears he wasn't even a consideration until the players themselves got involved. Reminds you of the T.O. signing.

BTW - Ryan Mathews left without signing. FWIW.

We saw that one coming. You really can't blame him.

I'm not upset about it. I was actually worried about getting stuck with Mathews AND Murray, and having to dump Polk. I'd rather keep Polk and send Mathews on down the line.

Or look for a rookie in round 6-7 or even an UDFA.

Let's hope Polk makes it to camp. With all the talk about the FA's injuries we forgot about the guy who gets hurt brushing his teeth.

I agree but I sorta feel a bit dirty.
Like some of Gore rubbed off on me.
And that other guy (it turned out ok though) LeCharles Bentley!

He wanted a power runner...no doubt. In this case, it is the way the board unfolded. Regardless, he wanted a much more physical presence in the backfield.

Chip blows off Oregon for Murray!!

Sure looks like Eagles-Cowboys games will take on a special flavor this season, with DeMarco Murray en route to Philadelphia Thursday to sign with the Eagles, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter said Murray would sign for 5 years and $42 million, including $21 million guaranteed.

In recent years, the Birds have tended to be on the other end of these NFC East jilted loverfests -- Jeremiah Trotter, Donovan McNabb and DeSean Jackson in Washington, Terrell Owens in Dallas. Now we get to be the team with the guy the other city is stirred up about. Dallas reporters at NovaCare the week before the game! Maybe Ed Werder and SalPal, shoulder to shoulder, sharing a mic, gesticulating wildly! It should be fun.

Meanwhile, running back Ryan Mathews is at NovaCare, according to several accounts, but has not signed the agreement that was reached Wednesday, which is interesting. Would Mathews want to come here if the Birds also were adding Murray to Darren Sproles, Chris Polk and company?

The assumption previously has been that Murray and his representatives were just trying to drive up the price for the Cowboys. But late Wednesday night, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed an ESPN report that the NFL's 2014 leading rusher was going to at least visit, in the wake of the phone call ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported, from Murray to Chip Kelly, gauging the Birds' interest. For whatever reason, Kelly canceled a planned trip to Oregon's pro day Thursday. (This might be the most shocking Eagles development of the offseason. Hard to believe the Ducks didn't just reschedule their pro day to Chip's liking.)
