Chip doesn't have time for primadonnas like DeSean and LeSean. He wants good soldiers and based on the press conference I saw yesterday, Murray is a very grounded individual. I think we are going to love him (as long as he stays healthy).

I agree, but I'm not sure I would label McCoy a primma donna, Jackson and almost any wr, yeah. McCoy was a pretty good soldier until the Jackson thing and he decided to run his own stretch plays last year.Originally posted by rspurr View PostChip doesn't have time for primadonnas like DeSean and LeSean. I was also impressed with Murray, and Bradford as well.

Yep, and despite his tremendous 2013 season...he still leads the NFL in getting stuffed over the last 2 years.Originally posted by Zepster View PostI saw a very interesting stat that I didn't know about. Maybe you guys did but here it is. 125 carries for 0 or negative yardage Lesean McCoy 2014 stats. Highest in the NFL
The media and fans all talked about "Shady makes too much money for any running back", "Running backs start to fade after age 27", etc, etc... but in hindsight, I think it all came down to those negative yardage plays. They are drive-killers. And while making 3 or 4 guys miss once or twice a game is damn fun to watch, I think Chip feels like having a running back who consistently gains positive yardage is better.

Yes! Murray is definitely a stronger, one-cut, North-South runner, who is better in short-yardage situations in the Red Zone and near the goal line. On many occasions last season, McCoy was taken out on third downs and near the goal line. That probably won't be the case with Murray.Originally posted by YourPalChrisMal View PostYep, and despite his tremendous 2013 season...he still leads the NFL in getting stuffed over the last 2 years.

I'm not disrespecting McCoy. He was a great back for us. But, last season it became more of hit-or-miss with him. He was more hesitant in the hole and tried to be too creative."Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein." - Joe Theismann

I agree to a certain extent, but I honestly think that if they had a QB who could attack the edge, those negative rushes would have been greatly reduced. There were far too many times when the defensive end was crashing on the RB, and instead of keeping it, they handed it off.Originally posted by YourPalChrisMal View PostYep, and despite his tremendous 2013 season...he still leads the NFL in getting stuffed over the last 2 years.

I'm kind of wondering if Kelly was a bit leary of McCoy for other reasons. You know, stuff like leaving the woman on the interstate, attacking his baby mama on twitter, etc. Maybe he felt he was sort of a ticking time bomb, or something.

As with all former birds he may have been flat f*** and I don't give one rat's ass about him now but McCoy was the heat while running for the Eagles. He was a fantasy star and led the league in the real world. But he is a Buffalo Bill now and who gives a crap about a Buffalo Bill. Just don't look to me to bash his time as a bird.Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy

Interestingly, just read that Murray was FOURTH in the NFL in getting stuffed. Obviously that's skewed by the # of carries he had but even looking at it stuffs/carry, Murray was still worse than most of the RB in the league. That was surprising to me.Originally posted by Eaglebreath View PostI agree to a certain extent, but I honestly think that if they had a QB who could attack the edge, those negative rushes would have been greatly reduced. Wonder how many of these stuffs were courtesy of our Birds. We controlled Murray pretty well in the two games we played against Dallas.Originally posted by YourPalChrisMal View PostInterestingly, just read that Murray was FOURTH in the NFL in getting stuffed.
